Let me answer that for you. Why is everyone asking about your techniques?

Are examples of contaminations I had, the 2nd one I had forgotten in my basement for over half a year, with the furnace kicking on every 20 minutes. I had many many contaminations in my days, and I've never felt compelled to clean my room. I got really fuckin anal with agar, as well as spawn, and had these while I was in this situation..

I've never bleached my room. Just a few vacuums. I've never cleaned a few of my FC tubs either. And they had lots of trichoderma..

These bacterial AF trays were fruited in the open air of my basement which had tubs of trichoderma nearby that I forgot about

You spawn in open air, which is covered in contamination spores anyways, fruiting will NEVER be sterile. The thing you need is a clean af established network, that can easily keep contaminations at bay. If you have trich germinating early, it's most likely because bacteria in your spawn has weakened your myceliums "immune system". Bacteria is pretty much always needed for trichoderma to germinate on mycelium.

Weak mycelium contaminates. Kinda obvious really. That means you need stronger mycelium. Which is why people are figuring out your spawn cleanliness, starting with inoculation.

I didn't weigh it- just ate it . It's the biggest fruit I've gotten out of either tub. I definitely have a new preference now- fresh. Taste didn't really bother me, nor the texture. Just tasted like a fresh mushroom.

:takingnotes:  Thanks for this. I have two tubs. One was put in fruiting conditions after 7 days [colonizing the sub]. Another after 5 days. The tub I gave a week is working on it's second flush- healthy fruits. The tub I gave 5 days has trich'ed out. I will harvest it and dump it. I tried to salt it but it is really aggressive and has spread. Those two days really make a difference. Though I must say that the first tub was made of the most aggressively colonizing jars. I will definitely take this into account for future grows.

I believe in myself too, been at this long enough.
I just cleaned it up today though so I was being cautious.

I did however manage to save some trich spores to do a side by side contamination of cubensis vs trich mycelium

This grow along is stressful lol. But then we all gotta sit back and just learn from it. That's what this is really all about I think. Not a competition but a way for us all to see progress on a certain scale from the community... for science.

So I would toss the trich spores and let someone else's failure be your lesson. Or if it happens you'll be able to see side by side comparison, believe me. No need inoculating trichoderma.

Well I already started a write up on here for the agar noobs.
I was seeing a lot of contamination questions when 90% of it was tomentose growth.

So I inoculated a dish with bacteria and tomentose cube mycelium to show a side by side
The plan is to do a side by side with trich and cobweb mold as well to help some identify contaminates.

this picture is actually of stressed mycelium turning rhizomorphic because of the contamination threat, I'm currently re-doing this because of the horrible pic quality and its not true tomentose growth

I'm definitely enjoying the camaraderie, and as a noob myself I appreciate the opportunity to participate and feel like a part of the community!
And I really like how different everyone's grows are! If it were an actual competition, it would probably need to be either in different tiered classes (cuz lol there's no competing with the Pastybath) or would have to be all from the same stock (or at least all of the same type) which would of course limit who could join (that said, those would be cool to watch too! Clash of the TC's!). I'm glad it's not a competition because at least in the total yield category, there's no way my stipticus on PF cakes would even come close lol.

I already win on badass pictures tho! hah

who'mI kidding, all u guyzes pics are badass, they're what made me wanna do this in the first place

True. I see what you're trying to show. It's not a bad idea I just wouldn't personally fuck with it. Especially in front of a hood but I guess I'm an SAB it could be more of a controlled experiment. Do you man if that's what you really want to do.

There's a ton of pictures of what trich looks like. I think a better lesson would be to compile pictures already posted and have comparisons side by side.
Like, in this pic of trich mycelium about to pop versus bruised cube mycelium and a spore dump

As soon as I start messing with contams they don't touch the inside of my SAB lol
This is going to be a strictly side by side on agar.

Great shots aneres:thumbup:

And an update on the grow. Just checked the spores and now I'm sure we have germination. Since I checked 3 days ago it's looking like clean growth. :yesnod:

So germination was in 3 days
here's a pic through the sab

It is a good question about the whole year cause we aren't just going to stop with one grow of cultures in a years time. This thread is also i great stat machine. Everyone had no germination and then in like 24 hours 95% of the people did.

yea being a part of this has already helped me a lot. i just recently started messing with agar and a lot of what i have learned is from watching what you guys have been doing. I wouldn't be watching this closely if i wasn't a part of it.

if by Monday i don't see any growth in my plates i'm going to add some rye to the minis and shoot some more ms solution on top and see if anything starts that way.

I've heard good things about BRF paste. May be worth looking into as well
