he didn't call him a entitled piece of shit. he said was being one. didn't say he 'was' one.

see the difference?

you want to make the rules a little more clear? or is what is extant as the ruleset right now for the shroomery just fine?

you'd be wrong.

it's both. the class culture, promotes counter-economics, which is criminality, which drives the notion of "getting out of the hood" by way of either A: counter-economics or B: getting in the rap game- which is what alot of this 'diss culture', gangbanging, and lack of respect comes from; the perverting of an artform (hip-hip/rap music) by taking the scenes portrayed therein (like as if one did such with a movie or video game, all equally absurd when it happens) as something to justify and realistically partake in...even though it's meant to portray a message that that lifestyle will for the most part get you killed. but i digress.

the culture problems stem from the class problem.

"the culture problems stem from the class problem"

That's because you live in Canada and you don't see the reality of the US and the town/cities filled with minorities.

It's mainly cultural, there's some things that money can't fix.

It doesn't even have to do with criminality, it's the attitude towards each other and authority figures, there's a reason why those teachers I know quit their jobs in short order, they couldn't relate to the behavior.

What minority are you talking about whose behavior is so outside cultural norms, they can't be interpreted?

yeah. like i said. it's American culture. i think you'd be hard-pressed to explain even a modicum of how what you're insinuating is some "foreign culture" is the cause of these problems.

now here is where i think some lively debate can occur. it hasn't to do with criminality? sure it does. c'mon now. how doesn't it?

the attitude towards authority figures...this attitude is distributed amongst a huge subset of the population, and it ain't just people in these neighborhoods. even you have disdain for the current authority. so i just don't see how you can use this argument.

teachers quit their jobs all the time, too, by the by...it's in the lower class schools where this is more commonplace- the notion that they can't control their students. but you show me a public highschool where all the students are controlled and kept serenely so, then we can debate about that too, if you wish.

there is a massive difference. when i say "you're an idiot", i'm insinuating something else than "you're being an idiot".

commonly that's what people actually mean...usually. unless they are full of their own bullshit so much that they like the smell.

but yeah, Asante probably likes some of that users posts, i'd presume...hence the choice of words.

Well, it's a combination of blacks and Hispanics.

"show me a public highschool where all the students are controlled"

That's a stupid argument, BTW, one of the teachers that I knew quit was teaching grade (3-6 grades) school students, you wouldn't believe the shit those kids would do and say to each other and to the teachers.

Doesn't anyone but Akira understand English here?

When you are being an idiot you are having an excursion into idiot like behavior. If you are an idiot, excursions are not an option.

But you know this, its just another example of the same obstructionist tactic of insincerely pretending not to understand a plain fact, in this case basic languange comprehension so the person is stopped from making his point any further and must backtrack to explain in this case elementary school English and if he doesnt, just hammer on his unwillingness to spoonfeed you a basic concept from your native language to further attack him rather than deal with the issue at hand.

Obstruct, obstruct, obstruct at all cost the enemies of your ideology even if it kills everything in a ten mile radius or makes the federal gevernent shut down for a few days just to make a point at the expense of everything and everyone.

Enjoy your Trump.

Fucking botulism man, excreting poison until you are alone in the pond.

These teachers tried to fix what they saw was wrong behavior by the students, the result was they were reprimanded by the minority administrators.

They didn't want any teachers to have any standards for these students academic achievement or behavior, they were told as teachers that THEY were being the problem.

One teacher tried to report abuse that a student claimed was taking place at home, an administrator told the teacher to mind their own business and to stop stirring up trouble.

Let's change the title of the thread then.. Since it makes so much of a difference.. "Teens being hoodrats kidnap and torture autistic kid".

Then the thread title is perfectly acceptable and there's no reason for page after page of this bullshit drama arguing about the stupidest fucking thing you could possibly argue about in this thread, right?

no, they don't. when i say "doobie, you are being an idiot", it's not because i don't agree with your posts 99% of the time...i do, and you can see earlier in this thread, that that's the case....but here i don't agree with you...if i were to say "doobie, you are being an idiot", it doesn't mean i always thought you were one, or that i think you always are one, or that i think you are one...i just simply mean that i think you're being one now, by feigning daftness.

i prefer the using the term "acting", as in, "you're acting like an idiot", if i want to make that inference more accessible. but i know what Asante said, he said "you're being an idiot if you..." ect.

that's not calling someone an idiot. that's saying that "if so and so" you are "being an idiot".

two different things. i don't see how you're having this problem of comprehension.

actually, this, dramatically, would eliminate the argument as it currently stands.

Asante could still argue that the word is itself derogatory, but not that people are willy-nilly throwing the term around without acknowledging it's context (and thus acting like these people should be marginalized for their "hood" producing such a scheme of rat-hood). all of which would invariably make his argument weaker, wouldn't it?

plus, it'd be more accurate. it honestly would. hoodrats aren't even hoodrats, that's just a fucking word people invented, but since this is how we are choosing to describe them, well, them "being" one thing or another is a more apt description of what they are "being", more than it is what they "are", consider it's not what they are. faulty syllogisms can be funny. but tensions are already high enough as it is, and i think Asante, from what i can see, wants to point out that those flames are being fanned so 'willy-nilly'; as it seems to be a discourse that blatantly allows that there be no consideration for these metaphorical flames, and that things should just be allowed to burn...you know, for the sake of being "anti-PC".

and i see his point. if everyone went around saying whatever they wanted all the time, things would be chaos. i'd prefer a manageable chaos than one where people are being unrealistic. what's the point if you can't even garner those on the fences and on the sidelines, or appease the group you wish to belong to, or if solely individual, what's the point of pushing everyone away?

clearly some semblance of a goal is better. if the goal is to fan the flames, i think Asante isn't quite for that idea...hence, these are the results you get out of him. what more could you expect?

you know what's better than arguing over dumb shit though...? talking about something else, but that's not the pub's forte, now is it....

I think the big issue with this case is that these young adults found nothing wrong with abusing this person and streaming it live over the internet.

I honestly don't think these young adults were horrible people before that day, somehow getting popular over social media made them abandon any moral consciousness, that's very disturbing.

I'm sure their family members are just as stunned with their behavior, it's a sad day when these young adults miss the big picture and do something like this, I'm sure they're in jail today wondering to themselves, "what did I do and why did we do it?".

You must not remember the Richmond High gang rape. A group of guys gang-raped a high school student outside of her homecoming dance, and instead of anybody intervening or calling 911, they stood around taking pictures and video. For TWO WHOLE HOURS. Just imagine, a group of 30 people standing around watching a bloody rape for TWO FUCKING HOURS, with nobody calling the police.

And this was a severe rape too, they beat her so bad she lost consciousness several times and her face was so swollen her own family couldn't even recognize her. She had to be airlifted to the hospital, she was in such critical condition.

I see videos of this crap all the time. Somebody gets hit by a car or something, and instead of calling 911 there is an entire crowd of people swarming around the body, pulling their cell phones out to take a goddamn video. The world is so fucked. It sucks knowing you could be the victim of a crime knowing that bystanders will stand around taking pictures and video, doing everything except intervening or calling authorities.

Sounds to me like that's a problem with the school administrators, not about "black culture" or whatever it is you're talking about.

nope, you're saying they are "being an idiot".

there are two different turns of phrase in play here, one signifies that one thinks you "are an idiot", the another signifies that one thinks you "are being an idiot".

the former can't be construed as anything else but "you're an idiot", ie, calling someone an idiot.

the latter can be construed as more than one thing, it has two connotations: either "you are being an idiot"- ie, you are not an idiot, but you certainly appear to be/seem/are acting like you are being one now." or "you are being an idiot like usual", that is to say, one isn't literally saying one is an idiot, but one is implying it tacitly through the insinuation of them being an idiot even for the moment.

"being" the present participle of "be", ie, the current state of something- eg not the overall aspect of one thing or another.
