Where did i go wrong?

My wbs spawn jars were minty perfect no nasty smells no contamination as far as i could tell. I spawned to a coir/coffee grounds substrate and incubated at 75 degrees F for 10 days but when i pulled my foil off my shoebox tubs i ended up with this whole ton of nastyness and stink. Not sure wheree i went wrong. I added a bit of lime to reduce the acidity. I got a glove box i pressure cook everything at 15psi for 2hrs.

bacteria. were the grains knocked up with a syringe or clean on agar? ive never tried coffee.. i hear it gets gross quickly.
how did you prep your bulk?
it will still fruit but will comtam easily.
use a SAB. glove boxes push air around inside the tote.

Grains were knocked with syringe. I ran my coffee grounds twice to make it a liss less strong. 1 cup spent grounds per brick of coir. I hydrated with boiling tap water then squeezed to field cap. Put it in oven bag and pc'd 15psi 120mins. And from ther i did grain to coir transfer in glovebox.

thats the risk with syringe straight to grains. it can get funky right before pins come in.
super annoying.

10 days was too long to have opened up. Once you put your grain into a fruit substrate that contains coco if it saturates it will release internal bacteria not killed at 15 psi. Coco needs more air if its going to work beneficial in a near sealed environment that contains no oxygen. It shouldnt be the base of any substrate really. It never releases its moisture if its not well blended... Straw, manure lets air in way better

You went wrong with the coffee. Used coffee grounds need to be FRESH, the whole batch you're using; and the need to be Pasteurized, not Sterilized. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17246844/fpart/all/vc/1 Coffee is a lot of work in comparison to straight coir/verm.

The fiber is so dense to begin with. It only gets compressed so it ships better from the tropics. When it saturates it activates what wasnt killed at 15 psi deep in that dense fiber. After saturation there is now NO oxygen in substrate and bacteria are now winning against your guys. Mushrooms dont need that much water. Coco is about as finicky as a plastic monotub yuck

Work with agar to guarantee clean spawn OP, syringes are a gamble.

How much water do they need for 100% complete yield then? Mr. Expert.
Why do outdoor grows do so well after it has rained heavily. Fruit bodies are 90% water content, that's tons!

Quote me when i said take off the lid. Rain leeches away bacteria. Whats leeching yours? Nothing... Your substrate is! Why a plastic monotub?

As someone who's too new to have worked with coir yet, this sounds like something very useful I should bear in mind, cheers

pblcenmy1,
What are you basing this info on? Rain leeches away bacteria? That is complete nonsense. Also, what material would you suggest a montub be made from? You mention Styrofoam cooler in the other thread...in a cooler, the heat generated from metabolism would cook the mycelium and if not, it would greatly hinder its growth and improve conditions for bacteria. You are simply spouting bullshit and need to stop....either way, you're quickly earning a rep of someone to be ignored.
