Repertoire89 said: Yeah 4wd would be nice, Ive been torn between a truck with 4wd or van in the long run.
May pick up a truck before a car but Im undecided, on my small budget a car would be the most reliable, cheaper to repair and with better mileage. But if I could find a reliable truck at the same price that would be great just for the 4wd and being able to go off road.
On the other hand theres a really nice van here which I could fix up, but Im not sure what itll cost since its a Wolkswagon and theyre all computerized / modern, I have no idea whats wrong with it.
*edit, one ofher thing about a car though is gas mileage and maintenance costs. I travel a lot and plan on traveling much more with a vehicle, so a car might be a better option just for the financial aspect.
Yeh fixing automobiles generally seems to be a daunting task unless you rly know what you're doing
I live right in the middle of Denver so I don't really need a vehicle to get where I need to go, maybe it would be more cost-efficient for me to just rent a room and ride a bicycle places instead

I plan on meeting a middle ground with vehicle purchase and getting a honda crv. The fit looks okay too. Hoping for 4 wheel drive. Something to help get me out there and carry all my junk but not anything I'm terrified to park and definitely something that'll last for a while.
Unless they come to the states like Nissan did I think I'll be in love with Honda for life.

Im stuck in FL for a few months so dont wait up, but I'll check up with you guys when I leave, been planning on setting up a road show for awhile so that wont change. Need to buy a car, refine technique on violin and start scouting for musicians etc. It might take awhile to get things rolling but Im very serious and have only put it off so long to work on developing my music.
Luckily in the meanwhile Ive had the opportunity to be shown the ropes by different artists and have a good idea of how to get something like this started, the hard part would be finding people who are willing and able to travel. It'll probably take years to really fulfill the idea, but I'm excited just to start performing again solo, every step from there is a bonus.

Thanks man, it went well, just turning in a drug test (clean) so it should be good Are you still doing the Airforce?
Saving money for a vehicle, not paying rent, my overhead of drugs + groceries is like $250mo

I see. Probably should press onward with the airforce but since I relapsed (30 days clean now) ive been thinking hard about my mental health. If I do proceed it would be this spring... Im very conflicted and still coming out of the recovery phase so im letting this ride a bit.
Im fortunate enough to be afforded this time to clean up my act and get on my feet once and for all, but im doing it right this time and getting my record cleaned so I can get a job w my degree

The Airforce is a good option in your situation, they wont solve your problems or make you stay clean, but its a good catalyst for you to make those changes. Its also way easier than the Army, everyone I know who has served were Army.

For real I'm considering buying some acres in a mineral rich county nearby and hoping to hit a good prospect. While I live in my tent to be upgraded to a trailer or camper by winter and starting to get a house built the following year. Even if I don't find minerals on the property I can hound along the roads without a permit and work out deals with local claimholders.
Best plan I have for happiness at the moment.
Modestmouse don't wait too long man. Depending on where they send ya boot camp can be pretty brutal in the summer.

How would you go about prospecting and working with claim holders?

Just curious, but is someone on a maintenance program (subs or methadone) allowe to join the military?
hope everyone is having a good night. just drinking a beer here with about 10 more coming up. going to smoke some weed soon. wish I had an oil rig here to do dabs, got all this concentrate and no proper way to smoke it. just been putting it on top of pipe bowls which still works, but dabs are much more efficient

Definitely not. But your medical history is your own to disclose. So long as it's not tied with courts in anyway, there is nothing there as far as anyone is concerned.

Hmmm... I was always told the military wouldn't take me because of my time in the psych ward. Is that not on the same level? or is it a situational thing?

well prospecting is gravy on my own property. I can manage that in a number of ways. Kinda hoping I could get a creek or stream on property so I can do panhandling too. As for the roads - no permit needed to hound rocks anywhere along state roads. Actually found some beautiful stones and quartz clusters along the road so it's always a viable option.
Working others claims... that I'm unsure about but from what I understand you can just contact them and while alot of them won't dice with you there is alot that are willing to let you dig their claim for either a cut of the finds or a flat fee.
