My First Agar (PDA)

Potato Dextrose Agar Recipe-

500ml or half liter distilled water

100 grams cut up UPEELED potatoes

10 grams Dextrose (organic light honey, organic corn syrup, corn sugar) i used Busy Bee 100% clove Honey

1-2 grams of Brewers Yeast (optional)

10-12 grams Agar (12 grams will make it really firm)

Process

I boiled the potatoes in 500ml of distilled water (some ill evaporate so keep about 200ml to the side youll need it) for 45 min on med low

then i strained the water and added my 200ml to compensate for the loss from evaporation

and i let it cool for about 30 minutes

then i mixed the honey agar and yeast together until all was mixed then added to the water and stirred until clumps were all gone using a fork

then i poured it in 5 baby food jars with one hole on the top and covered with foil

pressure cook for 45- hour too long and u can cook agar too long so be careful

then let agar cool

once cool using GB (glove box) i inoculated all five jars using about one to two drops of spore solution

i was shown by i guy who hasn't done this in about 8 years and hes the one helping me so before i try other ways i wanted to give his outdated ways a try lol and with a mixture of learning from him and my experiences and you guys for help i should be a master soon!

When you say the jars have holes in the top, are they covered with anything apart from foil?
