That one doesn't look like the trays are tall enough to fit large fruits in without cutting them up though? Or would you just remove a few trays if you had a number of these? I wanna for the most part keep my fruits in tact and not dissect them.

In that case you might want a bigger one. Thing is, having them intact increases the drying time significantly. All of my big fruits I split in half, otherwise that fat stem never dries enough and it can rehydrate others in storage.

I've used that same one Mushboy posted and it does actually fit very large fruits, you just kinda push them down and sandwich them between 2 trays, and they shrink as they lose water content. You can also put the largest fruits on the top shelf, I never had to cut anything and I was drying some massive outdoor fruits too.

is that worth $150??
and its an issue that isnt a 'issue'
 cap was 2-3inches across.

dried like this over 36hrs and the weight of the other trays molded it into a shroom lollipop.
MOST grows fit just fine. like these... they trays are about 1.5-2inches tall??ish??

ps. i would NEVER cut up my mushrooms to make them fit. i have more respect
ALSO!! you could get some plywood and wire shelfs and use the base of the cheapass dehydrator and mount it to the plywood box with a hole in it. you just made a big ass dehydrator... i saw a tek for it awhile back.. cant find it now..

Right on thanks guys. As it turns out I saw a used Nesco for sale on used.com for $30 has 5 trays. Maybe for now I'll pick that up and use with my 4 tray Excalibur and maybe eventually I'll get a big one like the one linked.
Just to confirm do you guys all crank your temps to the max the dehydrator goes to like 150-165?

Dehydrators are temporary, especially how we abuse them so the cheaper the better IMO. You can break the center out of one or more of the circular racks for larger fruits
and holds more If anything because you can pile them on top of one another.

I run across really large pressure cookers now and then at thrift stores as well, and for $5 I felt like I should have ran away like a thief after paying them.

Cool well we don't have Goodwill where I live but we do have a Salvation Army so I'll check there and maybe a couple other thrift stores.

It's an AA+ clone that's one of my favorites, big sombrero shaped fruits, quite potent and produces but dosen't drop spores. The only thing I don't like about it is takes forever to pin.

You've done a real good job isolating/cloning to develop that strain. AA+ seem to be a really popular strain around here.
I'll maybe look into doing a tub of those in the not too distant future.

Morel guy duly noted...on a completely different tangent can Morels be done indoors or at least create the spawn with grains( Be it Rye or WBS) and then make your own patch outdoors?

Nesco does great and you can get more trays for it and stack it up to like 12 trays high if you want. I run mine cranked all the way up.
