So I was shown about 2-4 grams of mostly dried that had been kept in a plastic bag in a pill bottle I guess they weren't "cracker" dry but after about a week of them sitting there was a very potent smell I could not place as bad or good so i decided not to eat however after just leaving in the bag in a drawer (instead of bag in pill bottle) for a few more days theres no smell and they don't seem to be mushing or anything....anyone every experienced this...think they are ok?

They always have a strong mushroomy smell, especially if kept in a semi-airtight container. Depends what type of smell you're referring to... I'd describe it as... neutral, kinda pasty dry cardboardy smell maybe.

Either way, you should always store in an airtight container such as a jar. It blows my mind that people don't do this.

ok so pill bottles are no good ? And the smell in left with is like your saying kind of cardboard but before was more stinky mushroomy the only visual suspects are small holes on the smallest stem and slight browning (cap colored) on the other here are some pics let me know what u think

Damn, those look really nice.I'd say the only weird lookin one is the second pic(and 4th) where the stem looks like it's covered in white stuff up pretty high. it could be just dried mycelium, but I can't tell from the pic and it seems strangely high to be so. Honestly, I'd say eat them, it really isn't a big deal. If you plan on buying in the future, invest in a dehydrator https://www.amazon.com/Presto-06300-Dehydro-Electric-Dehydrator/dp/B008H2OELY/ref=sr_1_3?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1483547591&sr=1-3&keywords=dehydrators to get 100% dryness and store in a jar. Plus, you'll also know then how much exactly your'e dosing.
But, I'm novice. I'd wait for other people's opinions. You may need to post better pics.
And yes, jars are the only way to go. Whenever you're storing any drug, especially this, you should keep it airtight(ONLY if it is 100% dry).
Good luck!
