Capitalism may have its drawbacks but I'd rather be poor here than in Greece or Venezuela, unlike the progressive retards that litter this subforum, I can see the forest despite the trees
Are those the only two socialistic countries you know of? What about western Europe and Canada?
I think you would rather be poor in a Scandinavian country.

I don't think I'd call Canada socialist, we have some socialist policies, like every half decent country (including 'murica), but policy here is far more driven by corporate interest than common good.
Anyhow why do people always contrast democracy and socialism, and somehow claim capitalism is inherently democratic? Trash all of it

Canada is awesome, I really wish we had more of your more reasonable policies

yeah, we do smart things, it's awesome. it's also completely independent from the usual train of "liberals do this 100% so thus my world makes no sense", considering liberals enacted something that makes no sense...they did something that wasn't 'liberal'.
so how do you reconcile that cognitive dissonance? do you touch yourself at night to ease the issue?

I will ignore the obvious trolling, and so will our lovable mod, I'm sure
Canada has been making great strides in the areas of reason and common sense, I applaud them for that, I've also applauded them for their immigration policy many times in the past.
If you, and others, could see past the support I have for conservative viewpoints, you would know that
But progressives have that kneejerk reaction that any support of conservative policies is "alt right" or racist. You people accuse me of the same behavior you practice daily, I believe it's called projecting and it's not surprising considering the source

i have no problem with conservatives, one of my favorite posters was a conservative....
and when the fuck have i ever called anyone a racist. LOL never.
and i see you* practice the behavior of bashing the progressive and liberal ideology constantly, then turning around and saying that people are being mean to you and solely having kneejerk reactions to your viewpoints; all whilst you constantly berate other viewpoints, bashing them, consistently.
i wonder when this will actually get through to you. you keep trying...i keep trying...you keep resisting. it's fun. i've got you, as they say, nailed dead to rights...but you keep circling the drain. i can keep pointing out your hypocrisy.

Okay then, you won, happy now?

you should've been banned a long time ago. we have literally begged you to back your claims - every, single, time you participate in the conversation - to no avail. it's like you don't even see the replies. and it's not a matter of disagreement. take for example qman: we rarely agree, but he always defends his claims. defending your claims is an essential component of participating in conversations. abstaining from personally attacking your opponents is another. you do neither, ever, and i'm quite simply baffled as to why you're still here.
we should all ignore you, because you add absolutely nothing to this board, much less this sub-forum. but we keep inviting you to talk with the adults. why? because we're not like you. even though we disagree, we're still interested in what you have to say. you just can't ever seem to say anything. there's something..... odd about that.
honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if you were paid to troll here (and probably several other forums through a multi-forum monitoring platform, like hootsuite). the way your posts read it's like you're not closely reading what people say to you. that jibes with that hypothesis. the way you refuse to dig in and defend yourself jibes too. i mean, why bother? you're not here to change minds. you're here to keep minds from changing. all that's missing is the backend evidence, which, admittedly, is unattainable if you're really are a paid shit slinger.
some may say that's conspiracy theory, but we're living in interesting times. paid trolls are everywhere. i could be wrong, but in any case, your posts are among the most ill conceived examples of reasoning i have ever seen. and i'm from texas, the mecca of neoliberalism. we have dumb on tap here. i hope you're enjoying yourself, because nobody else is.

i'm not claiming that he's a paid troll, just that it wouldn't surprise me if he is.
if you read the new york times or the washington post comments section, you'll see a lot of comments just like his. and i mean to the tee. it's like a formula. i doubt either of those newspapers have that much right wing readership, especially considering how consistently provocative and lacking of substance their comments seem to be. like i've said, i could be wrong, but it wouldn't be shocking if i was right.

Nah youre right.
We tend to think of paid shills as people who subtly massage the facts to fit a narrative, but there could (no doubt are) shills who's sole purpose is to muddy the waters and derail productive conversation.

Capitalism self regulate, socialism doesn't. Its really that simple. There are no benefits to socialism except secure feeling that t government will protect you, which it seems it doesn't.
Socialism always leads to totalitarian control, because what is 'workers seizing the means of production'?

oh, I've never thought of that. In that case we might as well do away with our misguided labor laws that prohibit child labor, unsafe working conditions, and institute minimum wages, etc., since capitalism would have self-regulated those issues anyway. Maybe we should eliminate environmental protections too. After all, capitalism would have self regulated industrial environmental abuse if we had only given it a chance. We probably don't need those pesky truth in advertizing laws, and obviously, the Pure Food and Drug act of 1906 was a disastrous mistake because, as we all know, capitalism self regulates.

What it regulates is pricing and distribution of resources where they are needed. Even when we had no child labor laws, people were flocking to the city because the wealth brought in was worth it
When should a child be allowed to work? What constitutes 'environmentally friendly'? Does a burocrat know when 'my property' has been piloted tterhen me?
It isnt perfect and people will make mistakes. The laws we have should b simple an straight forward, with noo room to interpret, and should protect the freedom of people and businesses to make choices, in my opinion

so your contention is that capitalism self regulates in terms of distributing resources to those in greatest need? Really?
