I don't get it these days, people loving cars so much. Ive had a couple encounters recently where people tried to show off their new car to me. Theyre like, "yo have a seat in my fuckin brand new Camero, check it out!!!!" I was like "ok".
So I sat in the passenger seat of their parked car all like wtf, this is dumb.
Another time these guys I was working with were like "yo you haven't seen this guy's car!?!?! OMG IT'S SO DOPE YOU'RE IN FOR A TREAT, so we go in the garage to look at this blue race car, im just thinking, dude you can't even use it for what it's made for in this city, its too hilly and bumpy here, it's a dumb shade of blue, it's tricked out for... what? Like why, I don't give a fuck about no car, like nigga what the fuck I'm embarrassed for you, I know you're not rich and this is an expensive ass piece of trash. You coulda paid for some poor kids to eat with that money.
Man, I could be a billionaire and I'd still just drive some rando honda bullshit craigslist bought car or truck. Cars are boring. I feel so alone with my car opinions.

Yea a super nice car would be really low on my expendable income list. I am just not a motor fan. I prefer quiet sports.

cars are just another way for people to express themselves.
that being said, vehicles these days are ugly as hell, the selection has gone to shit. everybody is using the same damned chasis for all the same shit. pretty sad.
wish we could go back to the days of just ordering exactly what you wanted. but that will never happen.
im into cars.. mostly off road vehicles these days, because streets suck and all the really good times to be had is away from people.

I'm the same way, I'm just not that into cars at all. When people are showing off their rides, I feel like I sometimes let them down because I just can't muster up the fake interest. That's not usually a problem, but some people are all CarIsLife and go full blown sports fan on vehicular knowledge.

I like cars but I think car culture is faggy everything they do has to do with the car itself and not their own talent also drag racing just fucks up your tires most muscle cars don't even come with the right tires for drag racing if you gun a car you just bought you are essentially destroying the car before you even use it because it has to be settled in
then there's manual it's fun to drive but once you get stuck in traffic it becomes a nightmare, so driving through the city in it is a pain in the ass and there's always the chance you could do 1000 dollars worth of damage on the transmission or even engine if you down shift incorrectly and the funny thing is it saves no gas, it's just a sound effect at best
if I had lots and lots of money yeah I'd buy a nice car and drive it to a raceway or something but it would be something that would only happen once every several years because of how far apart they are
if you build race cars in your spare time though more power to you I have no problem with actual racers

Oh yeah man, Stick shift... My drunk friend asked me to drive him home in his stick shift sporty car. I had only driven stick once before that, and I heard it make a really fucked up noise at some point when I down shifted wrong. Luckily he was too drunk to notice. Not my fault though, it was HIS fault for getting drunk and buying a fancy car that few people know how to drive

I dislike anything that can break and cost more than it's value to fix. I especially dislike cars, as they are money pits and rarely investments. I loath American society almost always requires a vehicle to participate. Taxies are outrageously expensive and buses don't go to the country.

I realize my preference is non attention seeking cars. except sometimes I wish I had a low rider el camino to cruise and hot box while listening to cypress hill

I don't really give much of a shit about new cars, even if I could afford the new Ferrari or whatever, I wouldn't want it. Late 60's/early 70's muscle though.. Well hell yeah I want it, and you're gonna fucking sit in it until you love it.

In had buddies with old cars. 65 impala and a 70s duster that was fast. They sold the impala and the duster well that's tragic.
Always thought gto's vintage were hot.
Dad had a 50s corvette and a 30s or 20s car.

I'm not really "into" cars as much as most guys, but a nice car makes a difference.
Heated/ventilated seats, leather, great sound system. It makes the ride that much more enjoyable, and it happens EVERY time I get in it. I don't need to go fast, but going in comfort is nice.

I sure can appreciate a nice piece of technology from an engineering POV, like the execution and detailing of luxury cars vs lower end vehicles. If I had the money I would probably drive a higher end vehicle but not necesarily a new one.
I like my things to be of good quality, other than that a car is just a mode of transportation and in no way connected to who I perceive myself to be as a person.
So yeah not really into cars and all that, I like surfboards

I'm so not a car guy...
Back in the day cars were marketed as an extension to your personality. If you were classy you were a cadillac guy. If you were a bad ass you went for the Trans am etc.
Nowadays, people don't buy into it. Most kids in cities don't bother to get their license anymore. They just bus around. Those who get cars go for gas consumption. I 100% sure that there are a lot less people buy a car for the sexy factor.

Car enthusiast checking in. I love cars and pretty much have my entire life. As rackem said above, cars can be a way for one to express hirself. But beyond that, i have an interest in the cars themselves, as well as driving them. One can have fun with cars and trucks, or one can enjoy them in other ways as well. They're also good for bonding between people. It's a hobby and way ov expression. What's there to not understand? Sure some people use cars as an ego or status statement, but definitely not us all.
Non-car people can scoff all they want at my interest. I could'nt hear them back when i was running through the gears in my old bug, the t04 turbo puking air and sweet smelling Sunoco 112 octane into the heads. And i cant hear them now when i'm taking a relaxed cruise in the xj-s on a fine day, my nostrils filled with the wondrous scent ov aged Connolly leather and my ears hypnotized by the soft and silken grumbles and hums ov the refined 12 under the bonnet. Haters can stuff it. If one does'nt get it, that's fine. Just do'nt try to put others down for their hobby.
