If you're good enough at poker to make it as a professional, why didn't you take $100 and turn it into $1000 and get ahead that way?

Good post, I disagree with your assertions on chicken though. It goes good with the stuff you've mentioned and isn't so expensive that I'd cut it out of my life.
I'm pretty anti-clutter, and habitually toss or donate stuff I don't use. So I agree with a lot of that. Plants are good to have too.
I get what you're saying about cutting contact with friends and stuff, but I'd opt for a more subtle way of doing so. No need to burn bridges by essentially saying, "I don't like you very much and think we should cease conversation entirely". Seems needless.
Agreed on high quality products and tools. Shampoos, razors, skin moisturizers come to mind as well - good quality products are noticeably better and I'd rather not use anything than use shitty products that dry out your skin or cut your face.
Speakers/headphones, instruments and daily use electronics like computers and phones all come to mind as well if they are within reason. No use in buying speakers at all for any reason if you'll be unhappy with their quality in a month. I buy stuff like this from pawn stores typically thought to save some cash. Wouldn't recommend using pawn stores to sell your stuff, but they are an awesome resource for actually buying stuff and I always check them out first if I'm looking for something (tool sets, power tools, electronics, instruments, whatever).
I'd add this: Don't buy new cars off the lot. A Sedan or SUV with 10,000 miles on it is just as good as one with 200 and probably close to half the price if not just a little more.
Save 20% of your check and don't touch it till your in your 50's or 60's - if you can't save that much per check, you're living beyond your means or need to find new work. This doesn't apply to lower income lifestyles, I'm talking purely of people working dead end jobs for corporate interests. If you've worked at a fast food place or restaurant for a year and aren't a manager yet, find a new job - you've become too well trained and valuable as a wage slave to promote to anything, and the shifts require your presence. That or you just suck at your job and aren't going to get promoted.
Don't buy anything compulsively, if you see something you want at a best buy or online, sleep on it for the night before purchasing.
And only go grocery shopping after a full meal to avoid buying stuff only because you are hungry. Plan every single meal out for the week or for two weeks ahead of time and put it down on a calendar, you'll save money, time and will always know what to eat when.

Good advice and im with you on the friends thing as well as your other points.
Planning every meal 2 weeks in advance sounds needlessly OCD however, and sort of takes the fun out of eating IMO.

I started doing so about a year ago. I find something new to cook almost every week, and have gotten pretty elaborate cooking a lot of Mexican, Indian, Greek type foods that I never would have cooked before hand. When I'm not trying new stuff and am cooking more easy stuff, it's usually fish or chicken with fresh veggies and stuff.
I see what you're saying, but it's actually made eating more fun for me, because I'm trying out new things rather than staring blindly into the cupboards and fridge not knowing what I should eat.
