Terminology And It's Limits
    #2391716 - 03/01/04 03:12 PM (20 years, 1 month ago)

Throughout history, there have been many terms to describe the physical totality of life. Most of them focus on the largest known object in life. Earliest religion probably focused on the landscape or mountains.  Later on, people might talk about their connection to ?mother earth? or Gaia. As the boundaries to outer space have been explored, we now talk about our connection to the ?Universe?. Even the term God is used as a way of explaining the creator or entirety of life, but it?s severely limited by the connotation of their being a male person sitting on a chair controlling everything.

Now there is theoretical cosmology, which talks about the possibility of multiple universes, or a ?multiverse?. Certainly a lot of ?mystical states? seem to reflect the possibility. Of course, it?s a bit ironic to talk about mystical states, when that could just be a term to describe something so overwhelming that it can?t be defined.

What I?m getting at, is that there are always new boundaries being formed and destroyed, and our interpretation of spirituality is often formed around it. I?m wondering if there is a word to describe every single thing, in it?s entirety. Even the word life seems a bit limited for that. It seems beyond our grasp to have a way to explain how much possibility there is in life.

The very nature of experience is ineffable; it transcends cognitive thought and intellectualized analysis. To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.

Existance might be able to step up and be that word. Either that or Experience.
Peace.

I wouldn't fear
For I've never known completeness
Like being here
Wrapped in the warmth of you
Loving every breath of you
