Hello Everybody first post. trying to figure out if I found a p. Cyanescens. Found this rather old specimen Far North CA. In my neighbors yard. grass not woody debris. Although wood debris nearby. Redwood country. Found 12/28/16. Cold here lately. low 40's high 30's at night.
Specimen was rather old; slugs were chewing on it. no obvious bluing on bruising. brown with wavy margins. took a spore print; photos attached.
Thanks!

Spore print color: brown maybe purple (ish) Very important!
Other information: Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

When you do find cyans, the bluing will be very obvious - and the spore print will look more like: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23809198#23809198

Unfortunately the season for Cyans has passed although its quite possible to find stragglers depending where you are. Just keep on looking the caps should be slimy caramel colored with solid white stems, most of the times you'll notice bluing before disturbing the mushroom but don't be afraid to pinch those stems to double check! Just keep on hunting man!

Well I already tossed them into the bushes. I'm gonna check the spot tonight - it is in the neighbors yard- and see if there are a few buttons to taste. What is the flavor going to tell?
