Great name btw
Thanks, and great pic in your sig!
Star Trek is a possibility. Humankind can reach that kind of potential.
In Star Trek the world has moved beyond the need for money. They have plentiful replicators. Food replicators so no one is ever hungry, and other replicators that can make all the clothes and tools a person could need. Everyone has access to almost limitless information, and opportunity.
People still go to school and better themselves, it not for the pursuit of money but to just be a better person and be a bigger asset to society.
We could do a lot of these thing realistically today if greed and the thirst for power wasn't such a huge factor in this world.
Star Trek gets deep as fuck.

Interesting. I'll have to give Star Trek a watch.
I never really thought to look into it, but I love tv shows and cinema so I'll have to add it to my list of shit to watch.

Star Trek can be good, depending on the particular episode/movie/season, in a B-movie kinda way Star Wars however is pretty uninteresting imo as it's just a b movie that takes itself too seriously

When I was growing up, I was a die-hard Wars fan. I researched the original trilogy over and over as a kid, and when the prequels came out when I got a little older, I was understandably disappointed. So there's this big gap between the last Wars movie and whatever else is going to come out next, and the new Trek movies start coming out. I absolutely loved the first one. (The following two were "ehh.") I loved the first one so much that I went back and watched the entire first two series of Trek with the accompanying movies.
They really are two wholly different styles of space exploration. One's about characters and action, the other about knowledge and harmony. I used to be strongly in the Star Wars camp, but now I'm in the "Why can't we have both and love each other?" camp.

I love both. When I want a fairy tail with wizards and stuff. I go to Star Wars. When I was realism and maybe have me start questioning my thoughts and beliefs, I watch Star Trek.

Yeah, they get compared a lot because of the space travel and so on but they aren't really that similar otherwise. I like the original SW trilogy but never really got into the prequels. Hated both versions of Anakin.

Star Wars is more fantasy based, they're both decent but I definitely like Star Trek more. I watched a lot of TNG and Voyager as a kid with my old man. First Contact and Insurrection were pretty good, and the new trilogy isn't too bad either. I'd much rather watch any of them than a Star Wars movie.. if it weren't for the word 'star' in the name I expect the comparison wouldn't be made as often.

I like the prequels over all but man does Anakin suck majorly
They probably wanted him to be such a douche as he ends up being Darth Vader but damn is he a whiny egotistical bitch
Like I said the original trilogy is where it is at plot wise but the second 3 have some beautiful visuals.w

Sounds like a personal problem, I had a good time watching all 6.
Maybe you just weren't stoned enough. Sci Fi/ Fantasy is always the best when nice and torched.

I agree plot wise but visually they were much better which I appreciate.
Some of the plot was decent too it just wasn't nearly as original or "fresh".
That is what really sucked about the force awakens. It was basically a second re hash/ clone of the last movies... That also is what sucked about the hobbit trilogy, they basically turned it into a second lord of the rings when it was supposed to be a more lighthearted prequel...

The Force Awakens didn't have much depth but I found it decently entertaining. Same with all the new Star Trek movies.

I love space operas so I love these movies, but I don't get the massive fandom around them. It's retarded.

Even with Star Trek into darkness Psi?
Also I take back what I said about smart people liking Star Trek that's not what I meant. Supachopper put it well it makes me want to develope as a human being which I find immeasurably valuable. Also the idea of ending world hunger, material possessions, respecting different cultures, how our human history would be always different on different planets. I could go on and on
I did like the Star Wars movies (seen them all except rouge one) It just never evoked as much emotion as Star Trek does today. Also the new Star Trek movies don't fall in that inspiring category either.

The new ones all kind of mesh together in my memory but I could check it out again. IMO Star Trek is best suited to the TV format though. The new movies are entertaining enough but they don't really feel like Star Trek to me.

I can understand that and I agree Star Trek was made for t.v. and doesn't accurately translate into movie form. For me it's close enough though. I bet if Gene Roddenberry had CGI he would've used it.Also the second movie COMPLETELY ripped off Wrath of Khan with a little extra storyline but a remake of Wrath of Kahn turned out to be amazing. The acting for Zachary Quinto as Spock is so compelling that every time I watch it I get a tad emotional about it because it makes you connect so deeply to the character.
The first new Star Trek movie "Star Trek" sucked pretty hard imo and I thought the 2nd & 3rd one would follow suit but it didn't. They both lived up to its potential and more. Beyond the newest Star Trek is a visual masterpiece for sure but I thought it was as pretty good storyline too. Into darkness though is my favorite out of the 3.

I agree with that. The new movies haven't had that thought provoking feeling. Mostly just eye candy and sexy people with action scenes. Which I can appreciate as well.
I also haven't been able to finish attack of the clones. I love Star Wars and have seen them all, but attack of the clones always puts me down. Maybe I'm getting TOO high?
