Goofed gas exchange

New grower here wondering if I could get some advice.
I inoculated 10 jars with diy silicone injection ports, however, I failed to add a second hole for gas exchange. Any advice as to how to add a secondary hole without risking contamination? The cakes do not have a verm layer as I wanted to have maximum use of space for colonization. Is GE that critical?
Thanks in advance guys.

Poke a hole in the top and re sterilize
Are you doing PF tek or grains?
You could also try popping the silicone off in a SAB

You could make proper lids, put them on jars or in a myco bag & sterilize, then swap the lids in front of your flowhood or inside your SAB.

In your case, I would leave them alone. Lately I've been testing with less GE(none actually) and have yet to stall out anything(25 jar test). Cronicr also made a thread showing that GE ports can be skipped with success. (though he didn't recommend it).
If your jar does stall, by then the top section will have been colonized, at this time I would install a GE port. Colonized substrate is safe in open air, so the installation will be contam free.

Interesting... I've been using unmodified lids unscrewed a bit lately but been feeling sketchy about it. Will no GE slow growth at all? Is that just with grain or will it work with PF tek as well?

GE is as easy as drilling a 3/8" hole in the center of your lids (for pf tek or grain jars), and stuffing it tightly with a tiny wad of polyfill. I've been doing it this way for soo long, I see no reason for changing it up

I'm a noob too so I'm not going to offer any suggestions, rather share my limited experience. In my very limited experience with unmodified lids (also in general), I have been colonizing jars with no GE up to the 20 day mark at which time I will then crack the lid a TINY bit. Only issues I have had as of yet were that some jars did not germinate and have had a few invitro side pins. Of these 4 jars, full colonization time varied from 17-25 days, 1 jar (bottom left) fully colonized with no GE at all.
