Lots of agar work time and patience. That's a tall order.

Slap it around a bit, but no need to cold shock. Slap it, peel off the bag, rinse it off, and fruit it.

Thanks Crispy. I did saw up some of the poplar I cut. Used an electric chainsaw and collected the dust. PC it today and dropped some agar wedges in to see how it does. The dust was fairly damp but I added some RO water to it it will probly be on the dry side in the time it takes to colonies it. Drilled 2 inoculation holes and inoculated 4 smaller 13" long logs today. Plan on keeping them in a 5gallon pail to keep humid. Il, post any progress.

By Shiitake kit do you mean a production block in a bag?

If this a Shiitake block in a bag, the shipping to you should have already stimulated it. Cold has always helped me to initiate fruiting along with light, but FAE is not that needed. I never peel the whole bag off immediately. Wait for pins under the plastic, then remove bag, Your environment needs to be humid enough to keep it from panning. Do fluctuate humidity. It helps after pinning.

^^No need, then. Fruitbodies form in times of stress - lack of nutrients, temp changes, the election of Trump, etc.

My first Shiitake block produced 12 large meaty mushrooms.I see no real pins , just blisters . Question should I remove from fruiting and dry out for second flush? Or could it still pin more? Man I love fresh Shiitake!

My first flush of my last pre-flowhood block. Theres a large conamn stripe right downthe middle of the top browning, but all things considered it is best case scenario.
