Found some of these bad boys today in Inner-West-ish Sydney at a park. Were identified as Panaeolopsis sp. Here. Would love a second (or third) opinion though. Just wanna be certain as to what I may or may not be ingesting. Thanks guys!

Could anyone advise me whether the hawksbury area is an appropriate place or suggest an alternate (although relatively close to the cbd) area. Have been hunting in the past but have never really had any luck.

All I can say about that messy heap is that I see quite a few bluing ones, and quite a few that might be inactive. But - big but - you should always lay out your finds one by one, both because it will be easier to distinguish and identify, but also because the moisture in a heap like yours will speed up the decay of your mushrooms.
So please line'em up and take good, clear pictures.

Thats the curse of getting a big haul, you've got to separate each mushroom and spread them out one by one for a good dry. (my least favorite part of hunting)

The added water from washing them does not help the drying process. Do you have a decent fan blowing on them?

Yeah they will dry quick with my drying setup. Gona dbl check each individual one this morning for bluing. I cant identity them correctly when they are dryed thats all. Ill post my definite pile and my not too sure pile pics in here once im done. Big hauls are more work than i thought. Either way i just wanna make sure im eating the correct thing. Nothing worse than going into a trip still questioning if what you just ate wasnt deadly.

I'll put dollars on that none of the mushrooms in there will kill you. They all look like Panaeolus, and quite possibly are most of them hallucinogenic. It's just too damn exhausting being sure from a picture when they are piled up like that.
But yes, even if they aren't toxic, it is essential to know what you consume. Especially with these, as they'll probably send you to Pluto.
Next time, please bring your camera to the spot and take in situ pictures prior to picking.

Cleaning a large haul of mushies is super labor intensive. I have found dense flushes of psilocybe cyanescens (drying up to about a pound) which only took me an hour or two to pick, but 8-10 hrs to clean up for drying. The faster you are picking, the more shmutz you end up needing to clean off... I guess there's worse problems to have.

Yea, these were psilocybe cyanescens though, not panaleous cyans...and they are a lot meatier and tend to grow much more densely. Picking that many of a grassland species like pan cyans would be next to impossible I would imagine.

Why would it be impossible? I believe the ones ive picked to be pans cyanescens not psilocybe cyanescens. They were in large numbers in the feilds. Up to 15 large to small per cow pat at times or maybe just a random big guy by itself, every step revealed a new cowpat with more fruit.
