In the meantime, here's some backlit gills of Pleurotus pulmonarius (Mediterranean/Phoenix Oyster)
not sure why the lighting got so whacked towards the end, oh well

Nice. Don't usually see people do oysters in a SGFC. Do you have the lid cracked for em?

In all honesty, I did very little research regarding what's proper to do with oysters apart from that they grow well on grains. So while creating some plates from a MS syringe I figured what the hell and shot up a single plain ol' BRF jar. 8 days later it was ready to burst out the jar while the petris were barely movin at all. The cake was so thick and dense, it colonized through the verm layer and stuck to the lid.
Then, again not doing any real research, I jammed it in the SGFC without a dunk or roll (it was already dripping wet on its own and smelled of perfumed talc???) and these have been the results.
Oh, and sort of cracked lid, the camera is corded and so the lid can't go down all the way anyway, it's just sort of gently set on top, not sealed but not entirely off its seat sorta thing:
(yes there's old used up GT cakes still in there, I swear I'ma bother soon enough, heh - also, the SGFC isn't normally stored there, so close to a PC tower, that just happened to be the only place the camera and lamp cord would reach)

That's why commercial growers often trim off some of the smaller pins right away so no energy is expended into what will ultimately abort.

I assume this is also why they are usually done in a bag with slits cut, so that the pins will be more likely to form on a smaller percentage of the surface area sorta thing?

I know right? From spore at that! (presumably, hell maybe the syringe has germinated spores in it, fuck do I know yet) Now THAT'S the thing I shoulda been pointing the timelapse at, that jar colonized so fast and so thick! Ahh well next time

Here are some things I'm working on. I have some cakes fruiting in my affect. I inoculated some jars of wbs a few days ago that are starting to germinate. I also knocked up some hard wheat berry jars the other day. Do those jars look too dry? Funny thing I noticed was that there was wheat berries in the wbs.
