Farewell 2016.
Which mushroom did you enjoy finding the most this year and why?
For me it was Psilocybe azurescens. I loved visiting the Oregon Coast with friends. The rain and mist. I find it very peaceful.
Share your personal favorites of this year below. It would be cool to see what everyone else enjoyed.
Have a fun and safe New Year's Eve everyone.
Cheers.
Psilocybe azurescens

This year my favorite find was a tie between these 3. My main motivation for hunting is the photography, so the photos themselves are what make a find most exciting for me.
Wild Shitake

Panaeolus papilionaceus

Gymnopus iocephalus

I know I was supposed to choose just one, and I spent a lot of time looking through my photos, but I couldn't.

Had an amazing time this year looking for P. Cyanescens as always!
Found my first Fall P. Ovoideocystidiata this year but Cyans are just so damn beautiful!
Here are a few of my finds.
Some nice healthy P. Cyanescens just waiting to be picked.
Heres a patch with a small capped phenotype.
Found this lonely little guy out on my ventures.
A nice shot of a Crown tipped Coral mushroom I found this year as well

Tmethyl - Fantastic photos! That night sky shot is magical!
My favorite finds are usually deeply tied to the hunt's adventure and it's memories with family and friends. This year's coastal adventure with my husband and my best lady friend is one of my favorite of all time. We found azures and wild rose hips and laughed away the night under the stars with the waves crashing in. I found a beautiful Campanella species when I tripped and ate dirt in the coastal dunes and forest.

I really like the minor active genera, so for myself Pluteus americanus would have to be my favorite find this year.

So true for me too. It's such a great time with friends and family laughing for hours over the simplest things.
Love the photo/s RiverDweller1 and gman, thanks for sharing everyone.

Going to the Washington coast and having a succesful day salmon fishing. Then going out afterwards and finding kings, chanterelles, and hedgehogs right next to the place we were staying.

This was probably the most symmetrically perfect Lib I found over a span of 25 years hunting. It was perfect in every way. It would have been a monster too. Not the greatest of pics but....

"The unknown Psilocybe" for sure. I'm still excited and it's been almost three months.

This Laetiporus Sulphureus colony was my highlight of the year. I haven't found very many chicken, but this was by far the largest grouping I've come across. I'm 6'2" and they were growing from the ground to well over my head on what remained of a very large white pine.

I also enjoyed this one, mostly because I noticed that there was a very well camouflaged moth in the lower right when I loaded the photo to my computer a week later.

Amazing photos everyone, I especially love your rainy pan paps tmethyl.
The two mushrooms I was most happy happy to find this season were Boletus edulis, which wasn't really recorded as occurring in my part of New Zealand until this year, and a very rare/undescribed amanita colloquially called 'Noddy's flycap.'

Pan cyans
There is this beat up, steep ass road through the bush that takes you down to the beach. Some of the local farmers tie up their cows along the road, tons of tall grass around.
Its a great hike , especially when you burn one along the way. Too bad everyone around the island knows about them, now i doubt ill see them again around here.
Heres some pics of pans i found along the road.
