This is a copy/paste, but is still very relevant to me... Just a Hello and a few questions.....
Hi Everybody,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I guess I need to post things and make comments to see certain informations... Prepared substrate of BRF,Verm,Water,Bee Pollen. 1 syringe = 11 1/2 pint brf cakes. They look amazing 7 almost fully colonized, 4 a little behind. Planning to do coir/verm/worm casting for a tray or 2, Casing 2 or 3 cakes with 50/50, and just do dunk/roll double end verm casing for 2... Fruiting chamber to consist of plastic tub with perlite layer, FAE holes with polyfill, seperate home made humidifier consisting of ultrasonic mist maker and a aquarium pump with air diffuser stone, aquarium heater, plumbed to FC... Does this sound doable? Crazy? Easy?
Thank you for everything

fruit the cakes as cakes in a shotgun fruiting chamber.
your fruiting chamber is not a fruiting chamber. do not build that thing. build a shotgun fruiting chamber to specifications.
humidifiers, aquarium pumps, air diffuser stones, heaters, etc... all 100% useless. do not waste your time or money on these useless items.
these four videos should give you a good overview of what you should be doing. http://www.mushroomvideos.com/BRF-Pf-Tek

I would make an SGFC if you are doing cakes, otherwise I would make a Mono Tub for bulk subs. Kind of sounds like you are trying to fuse the two together.
Good luck and have fun

Thanks guys... Munchauzen, what casing do you recommend, if any? TheDuder, I AM trying to blend the two, I know its my first grow but I am trying to increase yield... Have you ever done bulk w/BRF cakes?

Thats what I'm doing now actually, works just the same. Just break up the cakes when fully colonized and mixed thoroughly in the substrate.
I would mix verm a brick of coco coir in a bucket with boiling water and let sit for an hour, then let it cool to around 80-90 degrees and presto.
its simple and cheap. Not much to it.

I would fruit the cakes as is for the first time just to understand cakes as cakes then maybe next go around try them as bulk. Ive done cakes as bulk with verm/coir and never did a casing..IMO it didnt add too much yield but it was a small experiment
