Pics of my B+
    #23968207 - 12/30/16 01:51 PM (7 years, 1 month ago)

Here is one of my cakes with lots of fruits just starting, hope they grow big. The biggest one looks stubby/fat and looks like the veil is breaking. Its only about an inch or so. Is this normal for B+ to be this small, will it continue to grow? I was thinking could this stunted growth be because of too much or too little misting/fanning. This is my first time and just wanted to see if you all think it good to go.

Notice how all your pins are coming from the part of the cake where the vermiculite is? That's because the verm is providing the proper microclimate on the cakes surface for pinning.

The fruits themselves look like they may have been a bit over misted but the part of cake where there is no verm is bruising possibly due to drying out.

A nice thick verm layer will help keep your cakes from drying out too quickly and provide a better pinning climate for them.

The strain doesn't determine fruit size. All you can do is provide proper conditions for them and hope for the best.
Try bottom watering your cakes after they have pinned so you know they are getting the water they need to grow.

There's a link in my signature! Congrats on the fruits man

I was reading up  on the bottom watering and might just give it a try. I think I will quickly dunk my cakes in water then re roll in the vermiculite to get some more on them bad boys and see if that helps with keeping the proper moisture I need.

its hard to keep the vermiculite sticking to the side of the cakes it falls off when I mist sometimes. As you can see from on the tinfoil I have the date of 12-20 written on it, this is the date I placed it in the fruiting chamber, so its been 10 days so far and this is what they look like.

Re-rolling isn't reccomended but you can check out the other link in my signature on getting verm to stick in the future.

The issue with re-rolling is that your cakes have been sitting in an unsterile environment allowing mold spores and other contams to settle on your cakes. Re-rolling could potentially provide a microclimate for them to germinate on your cakes.

That being said, I have re-rolled with success before. The myc network and vermiculite are both contam resistant after all :justdontknow:

They'll likely be fine. But wouldn't hurt to update us either way :awesomenod:

Update: I just placed little plastic containers under each cake to bottom feed them. I will have to change the water every day correct?

Make sure you only feed cakes that have pins!
It's good practice to change the water once a day but you could leave it for a few and it will be fine.
Your cakes will most likely drink it up by then and you'll just be topping up the saucers every day anyway.

Oh ok thanks I will have to remove the dishes from the cakes that don't yet have pins, thanks.
