Hi, can anyone tell me what this black stuff is? Should I toss em? How could I prevent this from happening again?
Thank you

These are 3 different jars inoc at the same time with the same syringe.

The black stuff is mold, just toss them. To prevent it, study/practice sterile technique. Where did you do the innoculations? Did you flame sterile the syringe tip, alcohol sanitize everything else in proximity to your work area? It should go without saying, but you should make a still air box if you haven't yet.

I think you're probably on the right track thinking it was the dirty syringe... I think it's allowed to name vendors, right? I've always had great results veiwing spores from Sporeworks.
Better luck next time and happy new year's

Nope.

3. Spores are sold for microscopy use only so mycologists can ID mushrooms. If you're going to misuse them to grow a controlled substance, keep it to yourself. Any post which mentions 'such and such' vendor, will be deleted and you'll receive an official warning. Do not plug non sponsors.
Unless you're talking about their use in microscopy, you shouldn't name vendors.

Also what if the black stuff is gone. Is it possible the mycelium destroyed it?

If you follow the link I posted you will learn a lot about agar and how to use it. It is very important to learn, especially to clean up dirty syringes like you may have.
If the mycelium grows over the black mold I'd say you could try to fruit, but you'd be likely to cross-contaminant any other project in proximity to the moldy cake. Maybe place it outside if in a warm environment, otherwise it would be better to just try again. Take the time and learn agar for better success.

I'm sorry, no. Especially if it is contaminated at an early stage such as this one.
