I accidentally kicked my dog

Long story short, I was striking a puching bag and caught my dog across the side, hard, with a low kick. Hes not acting injured, but I'd imagine it was pretty painful. It was completely unintentional, he came out of nowhere, and now hes scared of me. I feel terrible, what can I do to make him no longer fear me?

give him the best meat you have and maybe a bone, all you can do is make him comfortable and reassure him it was an accident. he'll forget about it soon enough

I tried petting him and giving him a treat, he seemed really uncomfortable and tried to run. Hopefully he will just forget about it.

better let it sleep in, it's playing nice only to kill you for revenge when you are sleeping

just sit with him (not too close for comfort)and talk to him gently, he'll come around

Well dogs are really forgetful... they have a short-term memeory of 5min, however fear will last longer.
Try and show him that you're not a threat... give him a one time free pass to kick you, it would only be fair

As long as you haven't broken his spirit (which I'm sure one kick would not do) then time and some extra TLC will solve the problem

maybe it had it coming?
you should have laughed it off like it was no big deal. usually its the females who have tendency to sulk. males in general are more resilient and unphased by such things. sure your dog isnt a pussy?
