How do you compose your music?

I like using guitar and MIDI, for the time being, and writing with a band.
I find that getting a band together is immense amounts of work. It's not that this seems like an insurmountable challenge, simply that the long timeframe from beginning with a few ideas to actually establishing some material takes too long to actually work on all of the ideas I have. Basically, composing music by myself seems to be the only viable route to make as much music as I actually want to create.
So that leads to the topic of how one can compose music by themselves with limited resources.
I find that using a comprehensive instrument like piano or guitar, and then programming MIDI tracks for the rest of the instrumentation works nicely. Of course this creates a style to the music in and of itself. MIDI is not a substitute for actual instruments, so taking that into account I'm trying to write music for MIDI.
I guess another option is to learn traditional notation well enough to compose everything straight out of one's head, but therein lies a lifetime of a learning curve.
Anyhow, how do you all like to make music? What feels fulfilling to you?
thx for reading

Do you use a synth bass or a physical string bass?

synth in ableton live... If you go towards sampling that would be easier.
you can deal with all your shit using midi first as a rough draft and if you want to record with physical instruments atleast you have the whole thing already...
what style are trying to achieve?

That's kind of what I'm hoping to achieve. I just need to find people who would be willing to work pro bono xD I have that band I work with so maybe some of them would help to make my songs into fully worked recordings.
My style is pretty eclectic, but it's entirely instrumental 'rock' music. It's not all metal and it's not all just a straight rock, a lot of influences from jazz and classical, but for the most part I'm just trying to get a certain emotion out of the music so it's not all super technical or anything.
