I think it was back in 2011 or 2012 when this took place. My friend and I were day drinking and decided to take a bunch of mdma. As we lit up some cigs in my back yard the light and the color of everything went dim in a blueish way. We couldn't figure what the fuck was going on. Surely we hadn't taken that much drugs. Then I looked up and saw the solar eclipse and I screamed out "Fuck yeah dude! It's a solar eclips just like in that movie Apocolypto!" Then happy madness and excitement followed.
Can't wait to do it again on some cid this time!

If you're in the US.....2012 was a partial annular solar eclipse, the sun wasn't totally covered by the moon....Things did appear slightly "dim" outside, but there's no way you could have actually looked up and saw the eclipse happening since the sun was still incredibly bright (unless you had proper glasses on to block out the sunlight).
This eclipse happening next year is going to be a total solar eclipse. The moon will cover the sun entirely and it will become dark as night time for a few minutes in the middle of the day (not just dim), and one will be able to see the atmosphere/corona of the sun.
You won't be able to see it unless you're within the lines on the map in the OP.

Line up likely won't be posted for another month or two, at least....But anyone that knows Symbi knows that they do it proper with the lines ups and production in general, they always release tickets and basic info long before line ups get posted...Many thousands of people from around the word have already got tickets before even seeing the line up.....it's a damn good time in general....I don't get tickets just to specifically see certain musicians/producers/DJs, but for the grand ol' time/experience that is the gathering.
There's also a lot more going on than music at Symbi....lots of art/installations of all sorts everywhere, theatrical and circus acts, comedy shows, game shows, talks/presentations, workshops & classes, and ridiculous shenanigans that I can't even begin to explain.
Things never stop, always something going all 24 hours each day....and this gathering is a week long. Symbiosis is also entirely grass roots, no corporate/commercial tackiness about it, no alcohol sales (totally fine to bring it in though), no banners/advertisements or sponsors, all thrown together by crews of people just trying to create a damn good time & container for celebration.
Here's the line up posters from the past few years to give you an idea of the flavors of music,...

I was wearing my polarized fly fishing glasses. It wasn't like I was staring into the sun or anything. I get that it wasn't a total eclipse I was just trying to express how excited I was when it happened. I didn't know it will go dark for a few minutes on a total eclipse. That is bad ass.
I must get to symbiosis this year. I tried last year but couldn't get the time off work.
@openmind how was FKA Twig last year?
