Hmm i have no idea what variety I have but I think red or green for various plants can be a matter of conditions or at least partially. Light spectrum weird to the plant or too much light etc. Sure a variety may on average be a lot more green or red and in nature exactly where they are found it may be reliable and make sense... but just saying it doesnt seem like a reliable factor to me to try and differentiate them or it could become kinda meaningless once being cultivated, but idk.

My kratom varieties don't listen to their given color either. They're all like "I don't see color". Very non-conformist. But maybe they need to be a big ass tree first.

Anyway, I can grow my (only) khat plant in air that dries it out but as long as I water pretty regularly it's okay. This is particular to my apartment tho. And I do have very well-draining soil mix. I grew it from seed.
No idea how to keep a cutting alive (maybe in vitro for me), my plant is pretty hard grown and not very juicy at all..

In my recollection it wasn't hard or special to grow the plant, just noted that it likes well draining soil and to be careful with too much / too long water present in soil.

Interesting plant altho i am generally over cathinones haha. The leaves are aromatic tho, I really wanna try cooking with them (bit like with bay leaf but will have to experiment)

That is a very nice (and huge) Khat plant/tree.
Is that the narrow leaf type?
My Chatha Edulis plant leafs are darker, more round and almost red.
Must be a different variety than your plant or can it be the growing conditions?

Correct Mateo
This one is the thin leaved (indigenous here in Southern Africa)
I also have a thicker leaved variety but it doesn't turn red like others I've seen in pics
Not 100%sure if the red colouring is variety or temperature related or both
But either way my thicker and thin leaved varieties both stay green year round
