No suits, I think just one dress shirt, one pair of dress pants, and dress shoes that I bought to wear to a friends funeral just to show respect and basically use that one for any special event like weddings and stuff. Mainly just wear shorts and graphic tee shirts in the summer that aren't really baggy because I'm a really skinny guy so it would look ridiculous if they didn't fit well. In winter I wear jeans and hoodies for the most part, unless I can get away with sweatpants because I hate jeans but they look nicer for work and social settings lol
I never liked dressing up for some reason, I hate the way I look when I do or have in the past like renting a tux or suit for a school dance. I think other people look nice or cool when they do but I just feel like it's not me or my style whenever I've tried and can't pull it off.

I think suits and formal dress wear is cool and all, and it can be done exceptionally well, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that that is the epitome of 'dressing well'.
Dressing well, to me, is more about having a unique look, something which expresses an aspect of your personality simply through the kind of clothes you choose. Of course you can do that with suits and ties and dress shirts, but that's not the only way to dress well.
It would be great if formal fashion in society was less conformist and had more of a venue for choosing clothes from different cultural backgrounds and styles altogether.

I own like two pant suits. And a couple other blazers.
Sometimes I wear the blazers paired with something more casual like jeans or a skirt but if I actually wore a suit jacket to work or even a nice button up and slacks I would look super out of place. I work in tech, no one gives a fuck what you wear and half the time someone is wandering around the office without shoes on.
I do wear dressy casual clothes/dresses a lot but it's usually more of a hip/artsy vibe than anything...and I walk nearly everywhere or am on the train so I'm constantly trying to strike the ultimate balance between dressiness and functionality(which requires thought when you're wearing ladies clothes especially in windy/cold weather).

I own two suits.
Both around $450-500 a piece.
I never wear them though. Not anymore at least. My jobs have changed so I have no need to wear them, ever. And haven't gone to any real special occasions that required me to wear one either.

I dress up for church (which I've avoided like the plague the last few years, not anti-Christian just personal reasons) and for important meetings and ofc funerals and weddings.
Being said unless I'm really trying to make an impression it's usually just polo and slacks.
I must say I do look fine as fuck in a suit tho.

I get more of impression of people who would tell someone that their clothes are improperly fit. Sorry that JFT isn't like total dreamboat material for you, but I thought the suit looked cool. It only makes all the difference to a tiny subset of suit fetishists.

Basically dress shirts made for fashion not work, slacks or jeans, with black running shoes.

I own two suits, several different neckties, a few pairs of dress shoes, a lot of nice belts, a lot of button downs, a few different watches and a couple different really nice sunglasses. Those are my dress clothes though. My normal clothes are mostly just brand name shirts, polos and sweaters that I wear with some dockers and sperrys. Yes I dress like a douche. Dress to impress.

i have many nice button up shirts, some plaid some solid-colored, as well as some nice henley-collared (collard seems way more appropriate than -ed suffix) shirts and a couple decent heavy pull-overs (though they are not sweaters)
i no longer have a nice jacket/hoodie as all of those have eventually become work clothes and most have all kinds of burns from embers in them. the carhartt heavy coat also has a constant smell of fir/oak smoke in the fibers, as well as sap-stains. i have a couple pairs of nice pants, though they all end up becoming work pants. all my other clothes are either comfortable clothes or work clothes.
my awesome, wool filson hat has a permanent mud or soot stain (can't tell which it's so faded), and i refuse to have it dry cleaned, as the nearest one is ~80 miles away.
i have a suit back east, though i doubt it still fits. i only wear my nicest sets of clothing when going to town, as i can't stand how some/most people present themselves publicly in my area. a sign i'm truly growing old and crotchety.
all that being said, my dreadlocks are in an in-between stage right now, so unless my hair is pulled back (how i where it in town) i kinda look homeless and/or disheveled

You know up until like 50 years ago most people only had 2-3 sets of clothes. One set of work clothes, one set of casuals, and one suit/church garb.
Thats why characters in cartoons and old TV shows wore basically the same thing every day... Cuz people used to actually do that. And before the invention of modern washing machines I can see why. Why the hell would you have 40 sets of clothes when you have to hand wash them all?

despite having 15-20 full sets of clothing, plus tons of boxers (now boxer-briefs, grrrrrrr, hate briefs) and wool socks, i generally wear the same work clothes, pants/under-and-over shirts, as long as i can until they're stiff or rank. laundry is expensive and i don't currently have local access to a machine....town is ~20 miles away. though my neighbor and i are going to build a laundry room onto his cabin and go in together on a washer/drier
