What might this be?
    #23962063 - 12/28/16 07:37 AM (7 years, 1 month ago)

I have several quarts that have colonized with no contams, but one of them now that I let it consolidate for the last 5 days has created some unusual spots. This quart in particular was made from almost burnt rye (very dry from pressure cooker error, so it took 1.5 months to get to this point, but I figured I would see what happened).

Ive seen people drill holes in the lids of their jars and use tyvek filters; after a few uses the hole drilled in the lid starts to rust and the humidity in the jar consolidates and drips down some rust water, which stains the mycellium.
If this may be the case, and it smells fresh, use it

Those look like intense metabolites. Rust runoff would be much higher up on or near the surface, not the middle of the jar.

There's a bit of bacteria in there. Up to you op if you wanna spawn it. I'd probably spawn it into its own tray if it were me.
