Noob grower getting started
    #23961796 - 12/28/16 02:06 AM (7 years, 1 month ago)

Well, i finally got everything together.from my pc to my sgfc. Uesterday i cooked 6 of my jars at 15 psi for 70 minutes. I wanted to go longer but it ran out of water. Luckily i got to it b4 my jars cracked.i went and inoculated them with about 1cc each of pes amazonian. Got my last 3 jars cooked them for 80 minutes. And inoculated them last. Im gonna have pictures up soon. Ive read from anywhere between 70-80° on incubation was cosher. But its a little chilly in my basement so i put them in a incubator. Stays right below 80 at the bottom of the jars. And its dark. But there are so many conflicting reports on this im just kinda winging it. I know all the questions most people ask. Ill try to trouble shoot problems myself. Just wanted to see who would give me a hand if im in distress on this project. Any help, or advice would be appreciated.

That first batch of jars is at risk of being dry, What king of incubator do you have setup? In my opinion unless your house is really really cold incubators arent needed and can lead to extra problems like drying out jars , hot spots, stale air, mold etc. 70 degrees is plenty enough warmth to incubate. 70 minutes for half pint PF jars is plenty of time. You are using PF jars correct? What size?
  Good luck man. :mushroom2:

That method shouldnt dry anything out and i guess its better to speed things up than have them colonize super slow. Either way is legit man. 68 is about the lowest id go. At night time it might get a little bot colder so the incubator is probably gonna come in good use. Good luck.

I would personally continue using the TIT.  Sounds like your doing everything as well as possibly. (Ive personally had my PC run dry a couple times through out my career)

60 minutes for cakes is more than enough time in a PC.

mycelium produces its own heat. if your jars are 80 on the outside, they are more like 85 on the inside. which is bad news bears.

mushrooms benefit from light at all stages. darkness its not recommended.

wrap some coins in foil and adhere it on top of your PC weight to add additional weight on the jiggler. this will reduce the amount of water lost thru steam and allow you to reach higher pressure levels in your PC. I usually do cycles around 20psi for 2 hours.

60-75 degrees is perfect for cubensis.

focus all that energy on reading about what mushrooms need to grow.

start here..

you will have a few weeks with nothing but fungus in jars so use the time wisely.
do not try to reinvent anything or think you have the ultimate FC idea.

Spores take time to get going.  Be patient.  Hardest thing to do on the first grow.  Sometimes takes 7-10 days before you see even the tiniest flecks of white growing.  I find that conditions under 70 degrees, at least for me, tends to slow things down quite a bit ... I like 70-75.

growth speed from 60-70 degrees is negligible. you might reach 100% one day sooner at higher temps, hardly worth fussing over.

Looks like i have 4 jars started so far. Just little specs. But its something. Still waiting on the other 4 jars. And one out of the other 4, looks like my dry verm layer got wet on it so idk if it will germ or not. Anyways. Thanks guys for all your help. I plan on logging this whole grow here.

Guys i got a question. So my tit. At the bottom of it the temp is about 78-79 but at the top of my jars the temp is 75. I was just wondering if these different temps would cause them not to incubate as fast. Or maybe i should flip my jars over when they are done colonizing at the top. Any help would be great.

Leave them alone the temps are fine, it is warmer inside the jar than it is outside the jar.
Keep it up :awesomenod:

Thanks brother. And one more question. I have noticed with most people's grow with pftek. That the shrooms tend to grow out of the bottow(witch would be the top of the jars since you typically flip them over in the sgfc) would it help if i slipped my jars half way through colonization to prevent that amd make them grow from the top. Sorry if this is a noob question

1. you are not supposed to flip the cakes after birthing them. the dry very layer side always stays on top.

2. fruits from the bottom of the cakes are typically a result of people using the wrong, tall jars, instead of the correct short and wide jars. either that or their FC isn't built correctly, so only good fruiting conditions end up occurring between the cake and whatever its sitting on. if you follow the tek and don't deviate then you won't have these issues.

3. flipping your cakes will only cause fruits to abort. it certainly won't help anything.

Well got locked out of my other account when i got a new phone. So anyways, i inculcated on the 26th. 15 days ago. I have maybe 3-4 jars half way colonized. I cant figure out how some of these guys on here get full colonization after 10 days. Seems like im doing something wrong. But the mycelium is doing well. I talk to the jars once or twice a day. I couldent resist cracking a jar and giving it a smell. Smelled earth, and not quite like the mushrooms i eat from. But remanisint of them. Thanks for your patience with me. And when the sun comes up ill post some more pictures.(not that any of yall have seen a colonizing jar b4 lol)

Hey man you have a decent idea going, but you need to read.
Im brand new also, and I read way more than I thought I would before I started

THE BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE AS A NEWBIE.

1. Follow the TEK.
2. Read all you can, some information might seem repetitive, its like that for a reason.... Follow it.
3. Patience... It takes time.  Like mushboy said. Takes about a 7-10 days for things to start popping.. Use the time to read.
4.  Research logs and teks of people who are trusted cultivators.  Since I started in December I have followed a few logs and asked for help a few times.  I mainly read, its kinda annoying for a newbie to ask a question you can easily find by following a tek or just reading.
However if there is something you cant find or what not ask it here. AMU Q&A

Good luck man, ill be looking out for your grows.  As I said im so new its not funny.  But I read and reread and keep trying to advance my knowledge.

Not being jelly all your threads are on one section, about one grow not sure what a mod would say but its a bit retarded to have 3 threads all running at the same time, with the same pictures about the same grow. Not really fair for other users when your bumping all 3 of the same threads.

This is a joke right.
No ones jelly.
All thats being said is to not post the same stuff multiple times and in different places in the boards.
Its just annoying and against the rules of the threads.
