I got "introduced" to the idea of doing mushrooms first from my friend who was older than me and in college ( I was in high school) and he said he wanted to try them. After that we did a little research online and saw that "wtf..shrooms are totally safe" and so at that point we both kind of were very interested. Eventually he went back to college in Arizona, tried them and then came back and told me how amazing it was. He wasn't a rebel or anything at all in fact he was more in the category of "prep" or even athletic I guess you could say.
From that point on I was on the hunt for mushrooms and was able to eventually find them because I was a skater and it was fairly easy to you know get stuff like that or meet people who are into that. I ended up getting it from a fairly fucked up kid I know who does a lot of fucked up stuff but deep down you can tell he's a good genuine person. He was also the person who smoked me out the first time along with a few other people. When I ate the shrooms he was even being really kind and trying to calm me down on the phone as I was experiencing ego death.
People in my area typically went from first trying weed then to ecstasy/molly and then shrooms. Acid wasn't really around when I was in high school.
I agree with what you said about how it's cool to trip with smart people, I do consider psychedelics to be more like "college drugs" after all. I think waiting until you're 25 or 26 to trip is silly, it's perfect for college. I have 3 friends right now that I've been trying to get to take shrooms or some psychedelic for years now and they keep saying they're down but they never get around to it and I can tell they desperately need it lol. One of them is prep and the other is more "nerdy/smart" I guess you could say and the other one is just like normal.

we were entering 9th grade and my friend had some Kool-Aid. This was over the summer of 2000. We were playing Unreal Tournament: one of the first online FPS games made- i think. We drunk our glasses of blue Kool-Aid and hung out waiting for the onset. We got what I call HD vision and discovered things like opening the window to look outside on a suburban neighborhood quiet night...mind blowing! It was a really really mild trip but the idea stuck with me.
About 14 years later, locked in a career, started a family, learned how to build good credit and other adult things, I revisited the psychedelic experience that always held an air of mystery to me. I fell in love in a profound way. I really love life and psychedelics are like getting a fresh haircut: it's necessary, you feel good, and no one has to look at a scruffy looking procrastinator. We are on top of the ball over here!

The first time I tried psychedelics was completely spur of the moment and at a complete strangers house. Knowing what I do now about set/setting, I'm amazed it went as great as it did. Feel free to read the complete trip report here:

Awesome report man!
I've only been around really hot chicks on acid a few times, you really really start to overthink even the smallest conversation. Even more so than you already do lol
What's her deal with only tripping on weekends? Fuck that it's when ever it feels right.

Around January/Feb of this year, bored at home one winter weekend.
Watched "The Lazarus Effect" on Netflex, peaked my interest in this thing called "DMT". Googled to see if it was even a real thing and down the rabbit hole I went.
Few months later I'm growing my first set of jars and have had many deep insights and realizations since then.
First trip did a review of all my life's "major" events and choices. Or rather, "this lead to that, which lead to this, which lead to happy life, ect".
Flashed back to a moment when I was 10 years old asking the universe for a few simple things in life and then realizing 25 years later, I had been given everything I asked for! I remember laughing and saying out loud "Holy shit! The secret is real!".
Still haven't tried DMT though. 5-6g shroom trips are pretty intense as it is.

I did them when I was younger, had good experiences but never really considered them anything but just another party drug.
Fast forward to my twenties ending and something happened in my mind. Maybe it was some sort of mild mid-life crisis. Maybe it was just boredom. More than likely it was just sheer boredom with life. At that point all I cared about was video games.
A wild Joe Rogan appears. For whatever reason, I don't even remember the reason how or why I stumbled upon his website in 2009 but I ended up being an early listener of his podcast. I kept listening, and listening over the years. Eventually he got through to me. You can only hear the word DMT so many thousand times before you get mildly curious. Then your mild curiosity turns into a burning curiosity, sort of like the clap. You'll do anything to satisfy it.
I am so glad that this happened. Psychedelics gave my life meaning. I feel a passion in me that won't soon go away. I've learned to actually love myself and my extended family. I have acquired empathy, patience, and purpose. And I'll be locked in a cage if I tell anyone I know, haha.

When I was 17 I found out that a guy in my school year was selling shrooms. Psychs had always been something that lowkey interested me but I still didnt know much. I decided to buy a gram each for me and my girlfriend. We had such a wonderful experience and have now tripped many times together. It has led to so many great times in my life and made me a better person.
I was extremely depressed at the time of my first trip and it gave me a tiny glimpse of what happiness felt like and lead me to pursue it and get rid of my depression

Well, as I got to know them better, I found out that he had been letting his tripping get in the way of other things. It caused him to lose his job and eventually broke them up as he'd rather drop acid than spend time with her.

I turned on because i was in Santa Cruz, CA, which is right over the hill form San Francisco. I had long hair and people always tried to sell me kind nugs. I bought a lot of those and one day a guy came up to me and asked me if I wanted shrooms. I was listening to Jimi Hendrix and both my parents were trippers, so I bought an ozer from this guy and went on to take a lot of mushrooms.

Nice, tripping shrooms in Santa Cruz California sounds pretty alright.

Well you gotta stay focused and keep your job forsure.
For me psychedelics and girlfriends never mixed well, I would 100% rather trip acid then spend time with her. I would rather be alone honestly lol

That was in 1995 when there was still a street scene and people sold LSD and kind nugs on the street all over the place. I heard they shut down the culture in that outward expression.

T'was an early morning at a bus stop and I was wearing some socks with weed leaves on them.
A few fellows walked by me and stopped when they noticed my socks.
One of them asked if I was into that sort of stuff so I replied with a simple yes.
They then asked if I wanted to buy some shrooms but all I had was half a packet of cigarettes so we traded and I went on from there.
The silly thing is they told me where they went so a few weeks later I went down to the place and found my own, the rest is tripping history.

Traded my bike for an oz of mushrooms when a high school friend was going off to college. All I knew was that his friend grew them in his closet. Met an acid dealer through a young kid. Paid 20 dollars for 3 and 1/2 hits worth of a white piece of paper he said was "fluff". I had no idea what he was talking about at the time, all he said was to eat a piece of it when I was ready. Called him back the next day and bought as many as he would sell me for all the money I had to my name. 90 dollars lol, he sold me 14. Since then the prices have went down and I've learned a lot. Thanks be to great friends, and the homeless kid that I thought walked kinda funny. Changed my life.

I too went out looking for them. I was meditating a lot at the time and just gravitated toward a curiosity in them - no real reason. Landed here, created an account and the rest is history!
