Just wanted to hear some input on what you guys think about my first agar plates. Im useing PDA for these (incase anyone wanted to know). Also curious, which plate you would most likely make a transfer from? This is the first time I've had the chance to personally view the different types of mycelium on media, Its amazing and im having so much fun!
My only other question :
I have 20 glass petris coming in tomorrow however, I am going out of town to disney for 2 days. Somehow ive wound up with 5 extra dishes and i wanted to make a few transfers before i go. I've taken notice to the different types mycelium (I've read about them before but never personally seen them) and so i'm wondering which is the best to transfer, and why?
I will give a example of what im talking about when i say "looks of different mycelium".
Pic #1 IMO this mycelium always looks like small bristle hairs with a dominate vien vein of mycelium going through. It has obvious different sectors though. Pic #2 This mycelium is much more dense. Also all of the sectors have the exact charastics besides different growth pace. The one to the lef i actuall dident even expect to see at all, IMO which my experience level is poor ill admit but is this (AN? no sectors? everything growing even? Pic #3 This dish was noc'd 3 times with 3 pieces of grain. The plate to the right seems to have what i would call "ropey" mecelium. its like the "veins" from pic one but only he "veins" and no "bristles".
So if i could get some help, im clearly spining circles tryin to figure out which i should transfer before i go out of town. Thank yo for your advice in advance. <3<3

4 o clock on A, bottom sectors of B, Far right sectors of C, Middle top of D
Take a transfer for each and see how they do riding solo, looking good

What you are describing as "ropey" and "bristley" is what we call rhizomorphic mycelium. It's mycelium with those stringy tendrils reaching out toward the edge of the culture. The traditional advice is to preferably transfer the most rhizomorphic mycelium, which is what the post above is recommending. Don't worry about sectoring for this round of transfers.

A 3:30 B 6 o'clock C 3 o'clock D 12 o'clock
If I could only choose 1 plate though, I would choose plate D!!

i would also choose plate D if that's what you want to know! You'll get the hang of agar clean up in no time, but that fourth plate is already looking really good....as stated...another transfer...I like to do four transfers at a time for culture expansion.
