@ Inocybe
Did that start with low O2, then change to higher O2?

It was a test batch on straw pellets, 1,11kg straw pellets (1kg dry). Pellets/Water ratio 1:1,6. Inoculation rate 13,85%. A 14A bag was filled with the spawned substrate and then knotted and some small slits were made on the sides to breathe better during incubation. For fruiting, the knot was partially undone so a tall plastic wall (dome like) was formed. After the pins started to grow in size, the knot was totally undone but still the plastic wall was present until harvest. The elongation of the cap was the last stage in the growth. The big mushroom was caused because of the few fruits formed, and because of the high spawn ratio, which favors monster kings I guess.
The yield (1ºflush) was 829g, which would be roughly 70% BE (taking the dry grain into account too)??

The plastic wall was removed just before harvesting

I see, so lower O2 fattening going onto higher O2 as it grows, for a bigger cap? The cap grew with higher O2? Shame that doesn't work with other oysters, which stretch to higher O2 (more oxygen).

The plastic wall promotes fat stem because of the CO2 pooling, but the cap extended after the fruit got more developed. It happened when the fruit reached the top of the plastic wall (maybe it noticed less CO2 there). With the other strain of king oyster I noticed that even being a tall plastic wall, the cap gets huge anyway, so maybe it could be strain/variety related too.

So I am trying my first edibles grow in my new fruiting chamber. Breaking things in and it all seems pretty dialed. Maintains 85-90% RH for fruit body development (I can adjust per species) and I mist daily.
My reishi bags are getting their conk on!

My king oyster straw logs are coming along to. I can definitely tell that the lower the ratio of rye spawn to straw substrate was, the faster the fruits are coming in. Probably only a couple of days difference but I can see why its so important to professionals to get your consistency down. I did approx 3.5 quarts per log. I have Uline 16” x 36” poly bags and one log was a bit shorter than the others because I ran out of straw and you can see the lower substrate ratio in how quickly its fruiting compared to the others.

Excited to start fruiting my lion’s mane bags next week or so!
