Just joking!!
Is not Hericium, is Pleurotus ostreatus grown on high CO2 and without light
(I buy it too at first, found by search engine as I'm in trials)

They were in an unheated room (50°?)then opened the bags. They are just setting on the floor by the front door, misting a couple times a day.

Quadman Thanks for answering my question. I have two sawdust bags that I think are getting close. One pasteurized and one sterilized. Not sure of when they will be ready but am hoping to emulate your success.

 Cheers gww

The bag that is all white is good to go. You could put it outside in shade or better in a garage. They can handle down to or below freezing. It should pin in a 10 days or so if in the 40-50 range at night.

Quadman So no need to let it thicken or consolidate more? Just roll the top down and scratch it lightly? I have outside, garage or green house which gets hot during the day. Thank you for the advice, I am anxious to finally have a success, I threw about six bags out by the edge of the woods today due to trich and dumped a bunch of contaminated spawn jars. I have several more in the works that don't seem bad to but am pretty lost yet. Thanks gww

Some very determined blue oysters, these grew right where they are in the garage, with temps being between 10 to 40 degrees F

Found my enoki block pinning in the bag this afternoon so I threw it in the greenhouse.

My king oysters were also pinning in the bag. I was expecting those to be much more of a pain in the ass hearing the way people talk about them around here.

@ iwh678
If those mushrooms could sing, or at least pick a relevant song for thier current situation, here is what it would be. When I get in-vitro pinning with a lid on, you get elongated thin stems with no caps.

You should see caps forming generally on day 1-2.

I'm not sure I see what you mean. As I said these pins formed in the bag and then I put them in fruiting conditions. The pins look similar to a lot of enoki grows I have seen posted on here in the past.
Are those pics king oyster pinning?

Yes, sorry again. Out of interest, what enoki is that? I have not tried enoki personally. I did just Google some images and read a bit of data. There is a ghost white version it seems, and a more browner version. However that may be due to environmental conditions.
I have also noted the enoki stems can be elongated, or short with immediate caps and fairly rich in colour. I would like to also point out, button mushrooms are brown and richer when grown with light.
While I have 0 experience with enoki, my guess it the environment should match KO. Golden oyster for example is much richer with light and lots of O2.
----
Edit: Photolysis is the reaction, such as Vitamin D photolysis. (Not the same as photosynthesis).

This one was sold to me as a white enoki. It is my first time growing them, but from what I understand the long slender shape comes from O2 starving and the pale color comes from lack of light. I also heard some people suggest that many varieties of cultivated enoki may be different enough from wild specimen that they may soon be considered a new species. I am not limiting light or O2 on these so I'm interested to see how they will turn out.
