That's not a bad idea Ferather. Maybe start with the most popular gourmet species, oyster, lions mane and reishi. And for each have an OP that outlines their general growth requirements and maybe some pictures of what different stages of grain spawn, substrate and fruits look like. Then the thread can allow for questions, general discussions and posting pictures of peoples grows in the thread of the related species.

I tried to start something like that for reishi but haven’t had the time to keep up with it.
I’ll post s link later when I’m not on mobile but it would be great to have people Contribute to that thread
Should be in my post history

One of the nicer fruits from my current grow. They matured a bit longer than I would have liked and I think needed more FAE from the start. But still turned out pretty nice.

Were those jars fruited in open air or did you have them inside of a fruiting chamber? I'm currently doing my first lions mane grow and all I've gotten so far is this little guy
and 1 other that was even smaller.
I had to harvest both early as they were turning yellow and aborting (I think)... never got to the point of growing spines or getting very big.

I have my bags in an unmodified tub with the lid flipped upside down. Maybe low humidity is the culprit?

thanks Spindlymass, It's been a bit of a struggle to get to this point and still have a lot to improve upon.
InvisibleTheMilkMan84, They were fruited in a 4 tier greenhouse with the humidity kept as close to 90%+ RH as possible, with 1 air exchange every 10 minutes and switched to 5 minutes recently. There was large fluctuations at times due to problems with the set up. But mostly maintained humidity in the 90s%.
The yellowing and browning occurred on mine too, It's very likely caused by low humidity, as when you dehydrate them they turn yellow. It also happens when some of the pins abort and die, part of the mushroom decides not to grow or with age.
You have nice formation for it being in just a tub. I am still struggling with forming nice tight, round and small stemmed mushrooms. Likely from FAE issues and from top fruiting. Do you know what your humidity is at in the tub? If you can bump it up to the 80%+ range you probably wont have an issue or as much as an issue with them turning yellow.
Yours definitely would have developed a lot more mass had you let them grow for longer. The one in that picture weighed about 80-100 grams. I can't recall the exact weight as I had a few that were around that weight.

No idea what the humidity is in the tub, but with just 2 small bags in there I can't imagine that it's much more than the ambient rh. Did your yellowing occur prior to spine development or after? I assumed mine were aborting because they grew rather quickly (and were white), and then turned yellow and seemed to stop growing, so I just harvested them. Largest one being only 18 grams lol. Pretty tasty sauteed in butter nonetheless

they do seem to yellow when there is not enough RH, i was to lazy to fill my cool mist and they were a little bit yellow from lack of humidity.

The yellow occurred both before spine development and after, depending on the situation. Sometimes my humidifier will fail and I wont catch it for a day or so and it drops down to the 60% range. When that happens to it tends to abort parts of the mushroom that were in development or dry out other parts, generally the stem or underdeveloped mushrooms. At least this is what I think occurs. Here are two pictures of one that this currently happened to. Disregard the black stuff on the top of the substrate, it's rust from the lids of the jars that reacted with the metabolites to form that color.

It was forming very nicely and then one day or so of low humidity and half of it stopped growing. It's unfortunate because it would have been a rather large mushroom if that didn't happen. The only other thing I could think that would cause this would be that the substrate isn't large enough to support that much growth. But I don't think that's the case because there's plenty of water left after a large fruit develops and enough substrate left for more to grow.

well it looks like I may have to start considering investing in a martha setup to get some better fruit formation. Any advice on where to start looking?
