Found this cluster of Boletus aereus yesterday. Have never seen them cluster like this. Love these mushrooms, in my opinion they are better than Porcini.
So happy, we have been experiencing a drought for the last 2 years and have not had much wild mushrooms, but finally seems like the tide is turning.
Another interesting thing I find in South Africa, is that these Boletus aereus are native to Europe where they grow in a mycohrizzal relationship with English-, Holm- and Cork Oaks, but here they seem to grow in symbiosis with American Oak species. Yet they do not occur in the Americas as far as I know.

Wow those look meaty Quad. Fat caps sauteed in oil with garlic and onions mmm maybe tossed with some noodles.
It's interesting the top ones look so much different than the lower ones. Is that maturity making the cap wrinkle?

50/50 peat/vermiculite with 1 part gypsum and 1/2 part hydrated lime per 10 parts peat. pH meter read 8,6. Pasteurized.
The mature ones weren't cased, just scracht the top, hole in bag for down CO2 levels, placed outdoor for temp drop, wait until primordia and then cut the bag and fruit
