Well I've been working with a log culture for the past year doing all kinds of stuff with it.
I have a few enriched hwfp bags in the greenhouse so that means it's been about 60days since I got my 23qt PC, yay happy two month anniversary.
Figured I'd celebrate by sharing some embarrassing edible pictures
My results on enriched log culture block as compared to pasteurized non-supplemented?
Same amount of fruits, but triple the mutants and aborts! Yay

I have three more bags browning now, yeah after this I've decided they're going to fruit in the forest and hopefully propogate. I also have a few jars of grain spawn left that I'm absolutely uninterested in now, brainstorming something to do with them outside by that shaggy mane grove, where I'm dumping these blocks. Any ideas?
I have this culture in some logs that will be fruiting this year. I'll keep y'all posted. On to 3782

Harvested some enoki from my first grow. These started as an LC which I spawned to grain and then hardwood pellets.
They were finished in a stir-fry.

Well I take it back, there is marked improvement with this culture with enrichment. Very much so.

Still a lot of mutants, one looks like a penis, most of the non mutant fruits have nipples still.
I know log cultures doing poorly inside is old news but im going to be fascinated one way or another here.
On one hand, it could produce really well on logs outside which would be something to really ponder on why the difference between indoors and out. Perhaps because shiitake logs tend to fruit for several years seasonally, perhaps it will be a fruit less per year and less each flush, regardless of culture, due to the compressed medium of the log, and therefore would benefit from huge meaty ones - this culture has put out some big fruits.
Or on the other hand, the culture could do equally bad outside and fruit horrible mutants that I have to wait a year to see, I'm gonna laugh if that's what happens, then I'll be in amazement that people can sell this culture and not get in trouble.
Either way it's kinda fascinating to me
