Faulty reasoning.
Humid air is less dense than dry air, thus it rises. Always place the humidifier on the floor of a greenhouse, or pipe humid air into the lower parts so it can rise, taking the CO2 with it and out the top. You have to get the mindset of "CO2 is heavier than air" out of your mind. The CO2 mixes with the air and needs to be exchanged, not drained. RR
Quote:
RogerRabbit said: Just to correct a technical error above, CO2 does not drain out the bottom. Generally, fresh air enters the bottom, passes through the perlite, and then out the sides and top. The CO2 mixes with the air, thus it exhausts out the sides and top. It's not a separate layer below the air. RR

bodhisatta said: all I know is that on the inside of a fermentation tank for beer the co2 doesn't even settle to the bottom. the blanket co2 theory was debunked for beer vats a while ago. nitrogen sort of does a better job. but if there's a concentration gradient across a membrane like your jar filter GE is going to be moderated by the gradient rather than the physics of the gas being slightly heavier. gasses are infinitely miscible. Perhaps in a sufficiently large container closed up completely and under uniform temperature may see some co2 settling but for a small jar co2 is trying to diffuse out of the filter anyway.

Fair enough.

Correction: There might be more "humidity" and light on the top.
Else I don't know, without pictures.

That's awesome. What's the blocks made up of, anything special?
I have some spawn coming and I'm gonna put in bags w/supplemented hardwood pellets(sawdust) unless there is a better way.

Odd the syringes are sold labeled hypsizygus ulmarius
Seems to date all the way back to paul labeling a pleurotus as h.ulmarius. and this has created the problem.

Well there is one out there somewhere. Surely some reputable seller has an elm culture. You saw the Nebro that I bought turned into king oyster.
