How was the flavor on them?

Use a different filter type. Try something like this

You can add another syringe needle with a Whatman filter to the other silicone port too. Then when you go to draw out the LC all you have to do is remove one of the filters and attach your syringes.

Yeah SHIPs are great just currently don't have any lids moddd to that. This is my first go at them and plan to (other than expanding) pouring directly into bags- no need for syringes so no n Ed for SHIPs yet.

I only use them for LC lids. You could have a lid with a hole in it like In your picture. Then switch lids after inoculation to a unmodified lid. Place it rubber side down and you'll be able to shake it and not worry about contams or leaking. I wouldn't worry about GE with LC. Just a hole at first to be able to break the seal to inoculate.

Some of my Shiitake Logs.
They are about a year old. This is their second flush. On English Oak. They survived a massive drought and water restrictions when I was unable to water them so quite impressed on how they are flushing.

MDMA agar. hehe. I was complaining yesterday about not being able to find any puffballs big or fresh enough to eat all year. I woke up today and saw these in my backyard from my window. Thought it couldn't be. I must have tracked spores home from squishing all the puffballs with my feet to watch the spores come out. I saw tiny ones pop up on my lawn all year but nothing like this. It must have been just the right conditions and the landscapers weren't around to ruin them.

Temps in high 80s low 90s with afternoon humidity dropping to 35% this last week outside. With some plastic sheeting and heavy misting on my sgfc I was able to still get this out of some Phoenix blocks under my deck. Lol they are beating my indoor setup I am still dialing in

Beautiful! No woodchips? How much pellets and gypsum? I've got to make 5 bags in a couple weeks, I can't really afford the woodchips right now. They cut all OT.

Please tell me your secrets. What's your sub mix? I have to put something together in a week because I have some on grain now. Those are so pretty!
Also what is your technique for fruiting. How long do you wait to make holes in the bag. Do you do it once the bag is fully colonized?

No wood chips. Just lipa's fuel pellet tek. 6 cups of fuel pellets added to a bag and a handful of gypsum. I boil 7 cups of water and dump in the bag, mix, then tie off with a piece of yarn and let cool overnight. In the morning I dump a quart of spawn per bag, mix, and zip tie.
I let colonize for about 6-7 days with a 12/12 light schedule. Once the myc starts thickening up, I cut 1 small x in each bag with a utility knife and fruit in my 4 tier greenhouse with the door unzipped all the way to the top. I have a cool mist that runs 15 on 45 off. If I believe my hygrometer it keeps the greenhouse at about 90% humidity. I never mist them and don't need to dunk until after the second flush.
The biggest thing I've learned so far is that it's better to cut your hole in the bag earlier instead of later since LM loves to fruit early.
