Here's how those pins finished out. Only a 1/2 lb, but very dense. This strain is really quick to pin and produces a very dense cluster. I have been top fruiting it, but will try it on its side next.

Yes it is. Just a clone from the wild fruit.

I will be waiting, casually.
The side pinning of the local Oyster didn't grow much different, blah. I'm pretty excited to see how these grow up, pluerotus cystiduous sure takes its sweet time compared to its genusmates.

The beginnings of a spent cubenis substrate pile that's been ground, and set out in the sun to dehydrate, and collect micro life.

Once dry, and all accumulated, these grounds will be gathered, hydrated, then loaded into bags, and sterilized for the sake being inoculated with oyster mushroom mycelium. Shouldn't take long for there to build up a nice, hefty supply of these grounds.

Good idea, more. I like that sequence. Do think that after the oysters have done their thing with the substrate that Agaricus would be a good canadate to feed all the leftovers to?

For sure. I haven't done it personally (I so want there to be some blazei in my future), but I think agaricus is the last stop. Would cubes fit in that category as well?

I was actually about to write a post about this. I saw there is a large shiitake farm that grinds a portion of their spent sub to use for more bulk sub. I'm sure sequencing it with something more aggressive like oyster is better, but I really want to try this soon. It would be a big money saver if it worked.

If you mean by cubes fitting into the same category/place as the Agaricus, or Strophia in this sequence, I don't think cubes would. Cubes are primary decomposers. They like to be the first ones to munch on the substrate.
