I only asked about what you'd do with your proposed screwdriver but thanks for your photo.

For self defense on the road (specifically on a motorcycle) SWIM could carry a few golf balls, or ball bearings.
Just remember that when you're on a bike, you're always the scrawny guy on the playground, so pick your fights accordingly.

....the most reliable and practical of all realistic options (nuclear hand grenades aside) is pepper spray/mace or a tazer/stun gun.

I never did get those blinking defense flashlights. Like you might be slightly harder to see but all an attacker needs to do is tackle the objected that is somewhere in the general direction of the light.

I don't think a mace would be very practical.

It's highly efficient if your attacker is wearing platemail.

Maces are pretty effective in general, I think swords were popular because of their extreme speed (they average 2'lbs total and are perfectly aerodynamic giant razorblades) and the prestige of having one since they were very expensive.

tbh a lighter or a roll of quarters makes a good fist pack
a solid cane or walking stick might be a good choice as well
again were looking for things that can be carried
if were talikng hood ventures a tomahawk or ball peen hammer is a good option as long as its a shorter version better to conceal

If I was going to walk around with a tomahawk, why not just bring a gun or a sword?

I usually carry pepper spray on me in the winter time or if I go out somewhere like a concert by myself. But my quickest and most common carry self defense item is my purse. I usually keep a load of shit in there and I'm a rock hound so the bottom is often full of rocks too. I'm not saying I expect to knock a dude out but getting hit in the head by a bag of rocks is bound to be distracting enough to buy me time to pull said pepper spray or my knife and/or run. If the option is available I'd probably opt for running and getting help. Don't really wanna stab anyone.
When I'm hiking I have my wizard staff (quartz topped walking stick) and when I'm at camp I have my hatchet (and usually everything else too). I'd probably feel way safer with a pistol on my hip but all in all I feel confident enough being out alone. Even tho I have boobs.
