Cactus: Guerrilla Or Container Grow

I live in apartments, i get sun probably half the day, my question is do you think its better to have 1 gallon or so pots and grow on a balcony that gets sun from one direction part of the day. Or should i take my cacti and plant them outdoors guerrilla style so they can stretch their roots and get more sun but ill have to 'harvest' them before it gets too cold next winter.....
Which should produce the most growth??? Havent seen many outdoor seasonal grows.
(ive been growing on my patio and my cacti are currently in hibernation)

Location is going to effect your choice I'd think.

Love your signature. But yeah, location should be known. If your area is too cold, you could get lights to supplement the daylight you get.

Ty
See thats just it i live where it does get freezing in the winter a number of days so i want to find a good place outside, plant a bunch of cuttings and potted cacti in say March grow in my outside location through say October then come back cut at the base and take the cuttings in for the winter. Rinse, Repeat. (might try throwing sulfur on the wound and burying the base with some dirt and see if any make it through the winter (doubt it though))
I get decent growth during the spring summer fall on my patio but would always be nice to grow more faster
Think ill be safe and do half on patio and half in a guerrilla grow. Might make a grow log for the guerrilla grow

I planted some along a few Creeks around here that had some other prickly pears and Agave. The POS local tweakers ripped them all up and stole all 7 cuttings except one that had nasty scabs. God I hate tweakers and junkies...

I tried planting some bridgesii out in the desert in secluded spots. Every one of them got eaten by wildlife.
