3 questions about loose grain

1. What works best for loose grain: rye berries, unhulled millet seed or wheat seed?
2. Before PCing loose grain, is it better to soak for 8-12 hours and then rinse, or to rinse several times and then simmer 30-45 minutes?
3. Is there any reason you can't inoculate your first loose grain jar in an SAB, using broken up PF cakes, instead of using a syringe?

I would go with rye..it is the hull the myc wants.
Yes soak your grains and rinse first if you are going to..other then that you are rinsing gypsum away if you used it or washing bacteria down the drain and also it will be harder to rinse any crud away.
You could use cakes if you used a proper filter and not just a dry verm layer.

It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn I'm tired do me a favor

Couldn't you just add the gypsum AFTER soaking and draining, just before putting the seeds in the jars?

So there's beneficial bacteria in the seeds?

You mean for the PF jars, not the seed jars that get inoculated from them, right?

I find gypsum works best added during the soak
No benaficial bacteria was just a snarky comment

So if the vender doesn't specify otherwise, rye berries are as a rule sold unhulled, e.g., still with their hulls on?

I find wheat the best since it breaks up really easy and is simple to prep.. Coming in second would be oats.. They are so forgiving when prepping and you would have to really try to mess them up.. I find them a little hard to break up once colonized..
