HEPA filter question

What's up guys and gals. Quick question, im about to purchase my first flowhood, yayyy!!! Ok now the filter im about to buy is about 26x45 give or take. My issues is it says the filter is rated at 99.9995 % at 0.12 micron 688 CFM. The .12 microns is making me second guess this. Don't i need something rated at a smaller micron? Could someone with some flowhood experience please put in their two cents on this i would be much obliged. I cant wait to get thiss flowhood, im getting so excited!! Lol

.3 micron is the standard.
Your filter is a ULPA I think. I'm pretty sure they work for our purpose they are just over kill

Im calling this out as bs. Are you saying that most tc including you, pasty, inoculate, muda , cron , grower don't have a flow hood? Also that filter should work remember to macth the blower to right speed with static pressure.

I should of posted this in the first place.
Filter: http://m.ebay.com/itm/252521555213
Also, about matching the blower and filter, I have done some research about this and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go big or go home and just get a 1000+ cfm blower and just put a controller on it. Then just use a digital anemometer to check the FPS flowing from the filter and adjust my blower accordingly. That way I can also adjust accordingly as the filter gets some wear and tear and gets dirty my FPS will decrease inwhich time ill just turn the blower up a little more until my desired FPS is obtained. I'm personally aiming for about 130 FPS.
All of this will suffice right?? Thnx a lot for the input P.s. Also not sure of my prefilter yet so I can't really match my fan up correctly yet anyway since I don't yet kno the total working pressure

I'm pretty sure Muda works in his SAB while sitting on the shitter.

Its amazing how much can be achieved with sterile technique and some basic tools. There are a lot of competent growers, including many TCs that do not use flow hoods. Further, in some circumstances a SAB is preferable to a hood.
That filter is pretty thin, and the resistance is pretty low. I suspect that achieving laminar flow through it is probably not going to happen. It might be possible, but I think there are better options available.
Thats also a big ass size. In your planning, take into account what its going to take to move it around.

ILL,
Be sure to take into account the static pressure the blower will be working against. The filter you're considering has a static pressure of .44 at 690cfm. That will be even more at a higher flow rate. A pre-filter will increase the resistance to flow as well probably by another .10 to .15 depending on its size and type. So you'll need a blower that can provide your 700+cfm at that resistance which may well be one that outputs at more than 1000cfm in free air.
I'm just putting together a LFH myself at the moment.

To start. I just grabbed one of those 12x12 HEPA's from Fungi Perfecti. Build a box for it. Works great with a 1/4 horse Grotek blower, about 360-400cfm. HEPA's rock. You don't have to overthink it. You don't need a pre filter in a clean space. Go for it. I'm a noob and my cultures come out 99% clean with the exception of cloned pins...Lots of room to move around as well. Personal preference I guess...

Yes, you could say I'd taken a very long break from actively persuading my mycology hobby but now I'm back and pleasantly surprised to see so much progress in the field. I'll have tons of questions in the coming weeks.

Give 16 more year's there be so much progress that mushrooms will be sold as seen on tv, with new i phone 15 app to snap instant cracker dry. Lol Im surprise so many filters on eBay might have to get a few to breath easier.

I'm wondering how such a thin filter can reach the UHEPA standard with so little static pressure. It would appear that that technology has progressed a good bit in the lat 16 years as well.
