Hey all, I want to make a mycelium C02 generators for growing cannabis. You can be these products online (they average about $35 a bag). They do not list what strain they use, but they say its a non fruiting strain. I think this is a bit expensive and I could perhaps save money by making these myself.
So I am basically asking, where can I find a tutorial on how to make one of these co2 mycelium generators myself for supporting plant growth? What are some non fruiting fungi strains?

Make an eco enzyme using sugar water and some fruit peeling and kitchen scrap. they generate a lot of co2.. if you do this in a tight lid container, its guaranteed to explode in a few days.
you just pay for the sugar. hehe

IME brewing beer or making whiskey mash works better for extra CO2 than mushrooms and is not sensitive to the trichoderma the plants like. You also get drinkable alcohol as a byproduct that is also very useful for extractions and such. I use a birdseed mash with extra sugar added plus a pack of red star champagne yeast as a mash. Works great. Cook the birdseed as if to prep for shrooms adding 4 cups worth per 5 gallon pail. Use spring water or boiled tap water and enough sugar to get a potential alcohol reading of about 15. Allow to ferment a week or so then, strain the grains, and distill keeping the cooked beer. To re-use just add a little pickling lime when it gets too acidic and more sugar and water as needed to fill a bucket. Let cool and dump back in with your grains and let the yeast go to work. Can go about 7 runs before it goes bad. Also adding a few bunches of green as you can get bananas makes a huge difference in ending weight. The ethylene they make causes extremely heavy flowering.
