Was thinking Flammulina velutipes, but wasn't aware of it growing on wood chips.

What colour was the spore print?

As soon as print is ready I will post pic.
The thing that worries me is it is close to Galerina marginata? So spore print will look the same. I was reading the Galerina marginata cap will turn color when drying.

This is from a couple mins ago. Does Gymnopilus Sapineus dry like this and change color also?

A mushroom that changes colour due to moisture level change is said to be "hygrophanous". I don't think Gymnopilus Sapineus is hygrophanous, but Galerina marginata certainly is.

I based my previous guess largely on the apparent stem colour, but I'm far from certain. A spore print will definitely help a lot.

Not Gymnopilus but those look like these

I don't have my keys on me at the moment so I can't be of more use but once I get them I'll get an approximate ID.

They are not any Gymnopilus. I am thinking Flammulina velutipes, or possibly a Kuehneromyces species but don't think so. I hope that you put some caps on black paper or foil, otherwise you won't be able to see a whitish spore print.
