Fruiting Bulk Subs [question]

Hey guys, first grow.
In your experience, as an approximation, how many days left do you think I have until my tray starts seeing pins.
Details: MS Syringe to 50/50 pasteurized coir/verm 1:3 to 1:4 spawn ratio 12 hours natural light 12 hours of indirect low fanning 1x Daily misting 80-90% humidity 72F-76F temperature Day:6 in FC 1 single 10x10 tray in a small monotub built to spec
Day: 1 in fruiting chamber

Day: 6 in fruiting chamber Here's a photo from today (are those knots?):

I know every grow is different but I'm just looking for an "average" on personal experience. Thanks! I'm so fuckin excited for some mushies!!

I'd say your substrate is heavily dried out if you've been blowing air on it for 12 hours a day. That's probably also why there's a big crack in the middle. Your sub needs moisture.
As far as time until you see pins, could be as little as four days (unlikely), or it could be as long as two weeks. Without knowing what your spawn was like, it's hard to say. Either way, quit fanning so much. Really you shouldn't need to mist or fan at all before the first flush, maybe just a little to make up for inadequate conditions in your home. At this point, mist frequently (spray until droplets form on the surface, but no puddles) and then use the tub lid to give one quick pass over the tub. That's all the fanning you need.

Hey! Thanks for the feedback. So I spawned with Ryeberries... forgot to add that in post. Also the tub is sitting against a wall in a room with very little air flow. Crack happened cause I lifted the tray by one side And it bent in the middle causing it to crack. Consistency of sub is thst of a freshly baked cake. Are there any other factors that tell you that the sub is dry such as the color of the sub? Thanks a lot!

The substrate bruises blue if it gets really dry.

Looks really good to me. Nice work. I'd guess you'll see pins in about a week. Just a guess.

This. Often times it will yellow before that happens, though yellowing can also happen from bacterial infection.

why 50/50 and not 80/20?
to answer your question, I usually see pins about 3-4 days after I put tubs into fruiting

When you say you see Pins after 3-4 days of fruiting, do you actually mean Pins or do you mean the Knots?

Sweettt, preciate the help guys! I hope it doesn't contam
So, I got another question if ya'll see this,
So, I used 1- qt of ryeberries to spawn this tub. The quart of ryeberries took 41 days to fully colonize. The first week I had foil covering the lid It looked like the jar completely stopped growing for weeks 2-4. In fact, I had 4 jars total. The first 3 contammed but before they did this jar was hella behind the rest in terms of colonization. So much so that I almost threw it out.
So, the jar definitely had some bacterial shit in there, but it looks like the mycellium won because after week 4 it hit full speed and finished colonizing.
So, my question is, since (most likely) the mycellium had to beat out contam(s) to colonize the jar does that mean it's now more resistant to certain types of contams?
If I clone the best fruit (if it does fruit), will the clone that I have be more resistant/aggressive?

It seems a lot of popular bulk sub teks say 50/50. Have you had good success with 80/20?

Many people skim Damion5050's coir TEK and think the TEK is 50/50. It's just his nickname. 50/50 also works but I don't like it. I use 70/30 or 80/20. Verm costs more than coir where I live.

Oh shittt. I need to re-read it lol. I did half a brick of coir & 2 quarts of Verm. (So half of his recipe). How many quarts of sub does that make?
EDIT: half of someones recipe... I don't remember now lol. But I pasteurized in a pillow case to be a little more on the safe side.

I typically see knots a few days into fruiting, and maybe 10 days until my first pins show up on average. So I would guess that the earliest you would probably see pins would be in roughly four more days, but it's more likely to be another week, maybe a little more.

That's an interesting question. Any experienced cultivators care to weigh in?

We dont count on resistance we count on good clean spawn.

The question stands though. Would a clone taken from a bacterial jar that overran the bacteria be any more contams resistant? (Obviously the goal is clean spawn. This is just an interesting question.)

If you only use half brick of coir you should only use 1 quart of Verm and only 2,25qts of water.
How much water did you use?
With this recipe you should have taken 2,75qts of water because 1 quart of verm need 0,5qts of water approximately.

You must remember these have been growing along side of contams for ions

That is a very good point. I guess a more interesting question might be: would resistance to contamination be reduced if multiple generations of a subvariety could be grown in a contamination-free environment? For example, if clean plates were used to inoculate bottles that were then grown in vitro, harvested and printed in an SAB, spores taken to agar, and over and over a few times. (Extreme conditions for sure. )
