heres the plate now, looks quite good but wondering if that seperate patch at the back is a contam? I used spores so could it be some have germinated away from the area I swabbed? Also unsure about the lumpy areas? Do I transfer? So close to having a fully colonised plate I didnt want to have to transfer out - its very slow at colonising the agar

I think the bumps might actually be small pins coming through

Jars almost fully colonised now

The mould i thought growing now has a lovely rhizo growth up the side so im sure it is just spores that has washed to the side with the condensation

Interestingly the myc is also growing down into the agar

Not long until ill be making my spawn jars

Ok spawn jar just finished in the pressure cooker
I added a mix of soaked cardboard, woodchips and cocktail sticks in with the WBS. Hoping for good rhizo growth - anything faster than the agar would be nice.

this is completely normal. the culture doesn't simply grow on top of the agar. the agar itself is colonized, much more than you can even see, by very small filamentous strands of mycelium.

Nice growth coming along, going quicker than i thought - i gave it a good shake after i put the agar in which has really helped it as there is several innoc points.

Well the jar fully colonised so i spawned it to woodchips outside today - unfortunately i didnt have my phone charged to get a photo. I have a jar of agar fully colonised which im not sure if i need now. Might stick it in the fridge indefinitely.

Is that T-Agar you are using, or is that coffee agar?

Had to some great rain today to moisten my patch - the mushroom gods were obviously on my side as I didnt get a chance to pre-hydrate my woodchips that i spawned to.
