First Time Rye to Bulk

Hello again!
I was challenged after my first PF Tek to do a bulk grow. I used rye, and after colonization I did alternating layers of manure based substrate and the rye.
Here is the colonized jar of Ecuador cubes. I didn't take pics of the layering I did, but I will update when this thing goes into fruiting (in perhaps a week or so).

Anyhow, I hope you all have a happy holiday season, however you decide to celebrate!

Some updates. Here is a little sneak peek of the tub and the activity inside. Should be ready to start fruiting by Friday or Saturday I would guess.

Also, there is this jar of Golden Teacher which will be given a similar treatment tomorrow. I will be mixing instead of layering as advised =).

Had to share.

Put the tub in to fruiting today. Overwhelming smell of sweet fresh mushroom. Wish me luck on the fruiting. I am really excited to have started this effort! Ill keep updates coming when things start getting weird.

Next time you should use a liner under your substrate. It prevents side pins and helps to clean the tray fast and easy.
If you like to use trays you can build a monotub and put the trays inside. It works well and is better than a SGFC because the bottom of your trays reduces the positive effects of the perlite.
Your current setup will work, too. Maybe you want to lift raise the tray off the perlite with some bottle caps or so.
Good luck. I am looking forward to see your first fruits.

Thanks for the advice!
I did end up elevating the tub on some old dip cans I had in a drawer. I'll definitely look into a mono tub for the next jar(s).

Is it more beneficial to fruit that in the container or as a block? Just curious

There would be more surface area exposed, kinda like a large square cake. I wonder if that would increase the BE of a tub that size.

It's better to fruit in the container so it can retain moisture better. More surface area won't improve BE Pasty and Muda set me straight on that last week
