Lions Mane use in Multiple Sclerosis Patients?

Hi Shroomery! Recently a family member has been told they have MS. They caught it in the super early stages and after being told I have raced to the internet for any info. I ran across Lions Manes mushrooms and read about its effects of nerve growth and repair of nerves in the brain and spine. I read reports of scientists using it on rats and it had positive results on repairing nerve damage.
I am curious, does anyone here have a first hand experience in attempting to treat/prolong/diminish MS through use of Lions Mane. Any help, suggestions or info is appreciated!

I would say give it a shot and see what happens. I would also take a look at CoQ10.
I would start taking both lions mane and CoQ10 together and move forward from there. CoQ10 alone is known to help heal neurodegenerative diseases however it is not cheap but much better than taking pharma stuff.

It's not very expensive and would be worthwhile to try. Make sure the extract has fruit bodies and mycelium both . Each contain actives that are thought to help. I am taking and growing for paralysis wish I would have started immediately after my accident.

Thanks for the replies guys, I will look into CoQ10 and putting both to use. I ordered some of Lions mane supplements just to get going but I am now looking in to growing some myself. Today is my first time looking into the benefits of this mushroom and I must say that I am blown away by what I have read.
@quadman Do you feel a direct benefit from ingesting lions mane? Can you feel healing taking place from within?

No. I believe benefits are a long term deal. I've only been on it a month.

If you decide to start growing it please keep in touch with us here. We have some very generous people on shroomery. We could work something out with you so you could have a supply.

MS is an autoimmune disease, which is often caused by gut issues. Look into the Autoimmune Paleo diet. I have autoimmunity and it has helped me over the past year improve my symptoms by about 75%. i'm also beginning to grow lion's mane for it. I did once before but got frustrated that it needed it's own growing chamber, because if you veg it in the light it will fruit pre-maturely in my experience.
