Harvesting Stones

This may have been asked before and my apologies if so.
I had a couple of jars of Mexicana that are about four months old and I was wondering what is the best way to save them for long-term? Let them go to 6 months, harvest and dry and freeze & vacuum seal? What do you guys do with them (if you don't want to eat them all right away or fruit them).
Cheers

You can keep in jars until ready for harvest. Apparently you can let them stay that way for at least 12 months. Otherwise, collect stones now, return grain to jar for future harvest, pat stones dry, and store stones in paper bag in fridge, protect from freezing. I'd say harvest now so your jars can start producing more. Use the stones from storage when ready.

You could also prep more jars for receiving, and spawn your current ones so you can expand since you're not ready to use them.

keep them in jars until ready for consumption. IME dried stones suck balls.
brush them free of most grains, wash them in a colander with hot water and dry the exterior well on a towel.
then for storage for the next ~month put in paper bag in the refrigerator. they will start to dry slowly so emphasis on harvest as needed.
if I had a large amount I NEEDED to harvest @ the 12 month mark I would dry and freeze them, but they are totally unworkable at that point IME (though I wish they weren't they turn to close to literal rocks)

yes. similarly as hard as chewing rocks.
even when rehyrdated in tea to me eating the chunks was undoable.

thats what I tried when making the tea. would never try it again. lol.
I supposed other people may be more devoted, but I did want to trip when drinking the tea I mentioned, got the broth down in 5 seconds but the chunks are gnarly, couldn't handle it.

Probably be best to soak ground up stones in fresh lemon juice and filter at that point. Repeat and combine filtrates. Might be a minimal loss but better than trying to choke down pebbles.

Dried truffles -> Mortar and pestle -> Powder to lemon juice, let soak -> Make tea, add lemon juice, filter out powder.

Great, as long as they are dried and snap frozen I guess they will keep. Larger stones may have a tiny amount of residual water that is hard to remove without cooking the smaller stones. Have you guys found a tiny amount of leftover water to be much of an issue?

Cool thread, lots of advice... I grind up fresh truffles (current recipe is 30g as they are only 4ish months old) mix with dark chocolate (30-60 grams) and place in large tinfoil molds.( To make the molds I wrap/press foil around the bottom of a 1/4 pint jar) Place in oven to cool a bit somewhere clean and level then place in freezer to finish hardening.Take out, wrap up and put in fridge.
I'm more of a fresh tea kinda guy myself, also I don't like chocolate very much, but friends have said they are delightful. Afoaf ate one thinking it was a pot edible, he said it didn't taste like weed at all, haha.
Edited to say dry stones are weak, they might be good if they were a year old but otherwise not worth it ime. And no, haven't noticed any residual water after using a dehydrator to dry.

Has anyone tried freeze-drying to help maintain potency? It works great for preserving the natural appearance of fruit bodies. The low temp should also slow the breakdown/degradation of the actives.

It would seem that drying them is somewhat counterproductive. I think a better plan would be to strategically harvest, and store what need be in the fridge. 3+month fridge stored stones could be dried further to be put in freezer. This is simply a produce that is probably best served fresh. Like real truffles.
