If a WBS was spawned to straw and started to get hypnol knots before the casing layer was in place, should you: A. let it throw the first flush then case B. Case over the top of the hypnol knots
If you wait for the first flush to go through, should the surface be lightly scraped before putting the casing layer on, to stimulate new myc growth? This is based on all the pictures I see of mushies liking to grow on the edges of cakes, or where a contam was cut out and the pins seem to form quickly where the myc was cut! -puggy
You should do either, its more of an opinion on what to do.
If you case first, you risk damaging some of the hyphal knots, you are likely to still get a good flush though as long as the casing layer is not too deep.
If you don't case, your flush should be just fine. However, in my experience your substrate will dry out faster and will be more prone to contamination.
The knots that initially form will be the knots that your first and second flush grow from. If you were to scratch the casing after the first flush you would likely damage some of the knots that will lead to fruits in your second flush.
